Advert Standards.......

Don't disrupt threads on the main boards - get it all out of your system here. Think of it as 'playtime'.

Advert Standards.......

Post by Choc »

The standard of adverts at times on this forum is awful.

If it is acceptable on another forum, then so be it, good luck with the sale elsewhere. :D

However, for a 'Bus for sale' as an example, can there or are there any suggestions of minimum requirements needed for an advert to be posted on this forum, such as a price, a decent quality description, decent pictures etc, work carried out, work required etc etc.

No or very little description with a link to another forum I feel is simply not acceptable in here, c'mon folks, have pride in your advert on the SSVC if you seriously want to sell it using this forum. If not, why advertise it here?

8) Some users have put up great adverts and hence, a sale has been achieved. 8)

MODS, any chance of pulling adverts that don't come up to scratch, it would save hassle and abuse that's really not required.
A poor advert deserves comments from other users, I am guilty of this myself, but if the OP placed a genuine decent advert it would reduce this perhaps.

Perhaps a warning to the OP by PM first may help the situation?

Where have the standards gone these days?

I'll leave it with you. 8)

Who gives a sh1t. This is the 4th pointless thread I've seen in the last week about how someone decides to sell things. If they don't want to post pics or give a huge write up then that's their problem.
Lifes to short to worry about another persons for sale ad.
Let's just move on.

I don't think it's pointless, its a fair point regarding adverts. Regarding the advert I think he's talking about- the guy obviously doesn't have the computer skills that others have, even on the link to the other site he had to get someone else to post pics for him. I can relate to this as i'm pretty illiterate when it comes to technology.
His response was very off though but hey ho nevermind. Aspro is right, life is too short.

But I guess that's the purpose of of this section, so rant away :D

Fair point, a quick slip of the keyboard whilst trying to look busy at work and eat lunch.

I feel you may be missing the point of the original thread.

Who is bullying? And who's not clever?

Did you not read that part where I'm suggesting guidelines and help to try & ascertain a decent outcome?

Can we have a simple form/template with mandatory fields to put the data into, that would help everyone. Each time you start a for sale thread it would bring up the form with the minimum required information in and give tips as to what you can add. Is there a sticky on one of the pages as to how you post pictures etc as that could be linked in too! Just an idea to help out those who care, or dont!
Stock is good, its just that low and fast is better!!

Certainly is.
It's a Sticky in: Non VW Chat and Discussion
Adding pictures:

Thanks for your help & support. :D

It appears the MK1 Golf folks know how to help their classifieds section.

http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php ... t-template

http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php ... sale-forum

I may opt for a MK1 Golf instead. 8)

(Hope the above is spelt correctly and with the correct grammar, although I'm sure someone will be along soon to call me a c0ck).
