Barndoor engine vent lourve trim

Post by horty »

Hope it's OK to post in the chat section (feel free to move to for sale if preferred)

As many of you know I already produce the vent trims for early and late splits but I get asked time to time for the slightly different length trims required for Barndoors and Rikki has asked if I can arrange :)

So if I can get some idea of interest before I commit to tooling it would be appreciated.

You can see the details for the sets I already do here --> http://www.aircooledaccessories.com/VW_ ... Vent_Trims

and the Barndoor ones will be stainless steel also.

Price I aim to keep the same price so will be £60 for a full set inc. clips.

Please can you add your name to the list if you would be interested in a set:

1. Rikki
2.

Cheers

Paul :)

I'd love some in Aluminium and they would be more original. That said I would buy some as I lost one in a bush somewhere.... Other repro ones are already available from Schofields/WW

Read this thread for info.... http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewto ... light=vent

Aluminium!

Would be interested if you were making an exact copy set in aluminium .

They were fitted to our van in the past so a nice ali set would fill the holes nicely.

thanks guys, I will look into the option of aluminium but was really hoping to keep the same as the other ones I do in stainless.

BTW and correct me if I am wrong but I could only see the standard ones on schofields.

You can see the profile of the tips here for the early and late ones we do http://www.aircooledaccessories.com/VW_ ... Vent_Trims

Cheers

Paul

EDIT - just looking through the old samba thread the length of them is very close to the late model trims that we already do.

Do you think 300mm trims would be OK??????

Paul they really need to be 310mm. I did get mine from Schofields but did have to wait so they may have been special order from WW.
I know your already tooled up and have material sorted for stainless but why can you just get some pressed in Aluminium as a trial?

Hi Paul,

Only really worth doing if you get them bang on. BD owners are known for obsessing over details

You will get loads of orders if u get them correct. and a lot of happy BD owners :D

OK, I now have full costings and can confirm I will be able to make them in aluminium 310mm long as requested

the tooling cost even for these small trim pieces is high and I would really like to see a list of 20 people who are keen to buy a set - I should point out that the qty I need to sell to even break even on these is much higher than 20 sets but if I can get initial orders for 20 sets then I would be happy to proceed.

Price as mentioned will be £60 for all that have their name on the list - I will have additional made but the price will be £75

So I am not sure if we can get to 20 sets but let's give it a go
