If youve got reduction boxes it will tow it fine.

I too have a single cab pick up and have towed my eriba famila with no prob's, the only thing I would sugest which I have done is fit an external oil filter and cooler (with a fan) hope this helps Eddy.

Wouldn't that depend on which box was used for teh conversion? I used a box from a 1300 beetle in my bus as it's a lard-arse camper and only has a 1600sp engine. I was advised that a 1500 box would be better with something like a 1776 with that extra bit of grunt.

I'd guess that the lower geared 1300 would be ok for towing perhaps?

its a late 1200 box, but i think they are geared quite high (by late i mean like, 80's of something like that)

but am running 14" wheels with 165/70 tyres (i think ?)
thought worse case, I could just go down in tyre profile when towing to give a similar affect to the reduction boxes

does anyone know (roughly) what tyre profile on 14's would give similar gearing to reduction boxes (for various gearbox gearing i suppose, as I dont know mine)

Looking at this thread with interest!

Been thinking at some point of getting a puck myself but worried about towing with a 1500 standard engine. Is that asking too much?

Standard engines will pull fine as long as you go down hills all the time! I tow a small teardrop trailer and my 'old' 1600 twin port was fine until the miss's filled the trailer to the brim...Engine eventually went pop and then I upgraded...

Never the less take it easy when towing, as my caravan tried to overtake me on the way to Vanfest one year!!! :pale:
