The other option was if the vehicle was imported in the 70s. I had a beetle that was on a 75(P) plate, but it was a 1970 beetle. The V5 said it was manufactured in 1970, but first registered in UK in 1975

Re: k reg split
^^^ my mate bought whayt he thought was a fleetline and it was given a K plate. When he did some digging and found it was manufactured in 61 he sent a photocopy of the confirmation to dvla and he got re-issued with an age related plate. You could probably do the same.

Where did he start digging? I've tried getting a birth certificate with no luck.

Re: k reg split
From what I can remember he called VW milton keynes with the vin number and the M plate codes. I think the number is still 08007834909. They just sent him confirmation in the form of the vehicle details in vin number and M plate number on some headed paper signed by their PR honcho and that was enough to get it done. He said it was all sorted suprisingly hassle free. Give that a go and if you don't get any joy send me an email to rattlecan at hotmail dot co dot uk and I'll have a chat with him and see if we can get it sorted between us

Wow, thanks Lee. I'll give that a go! Although I'm not expecting a nice surprise like your mate. I don't think there's any doubt mine's a fleetline but it would be nice to find out a bit more about it.
