Post by Volksdragon » Sun Oct 24, 2010 10:52 pm

Spotted this today in a local general car scrappy. :( Place was closed so no one to ask. It's in Wrexham North Wales. PM me if you're interested in it and I'll try and find out a bit more.

Whitewalls and Sundial type windows - looks like a Yank. Must be the only split in a UK scrapyard. Looks pretty solid too.
1966 Westy in Velvet Green - being restored
1967 Devon from Devon still in Devon
1967 Sundial from Idaho
1971 Westfalia from LA
1971 patina Delux from Montana now living in Germany
1972 Devon now owned by No 1 son!

I've seen one sitting ina scrapyard in Wakefield. I approached the owner about buying when I was looking for mine but he sais he wanted £5k for it even though it had masses of rust, no doors, no engine and no glass.

If anyone wants more info or pics just PM me

Been on a reccy. Sweet rides is spot on - it's defo a US panel import, non walkthro'.
Pics added to save folk a trip.

Bus is basically solid BUT:
Whole roof needs replacing - been cut for a small hatch & has bad ding to o/s front corner.

Dings to lower front panel, n/s rear corner, n/s lower cab door

lower n/s long panel needs a repair piece welding in.
no glass, apart from rear hatch.

otherwise looks all original & is bone dry & seems solid underneath:

He's asking 'around 3K ish' with all paperwork, incl a rear axle and poss an old engine.

Said he has a few more buses in his other yard incl:
a early RHD one but it's quite tatty (thinks its early 50's)
& another bus with lots of windows - but not sure how many...
So defo a dealer but his main business is the scrapyard.
Not advertised, & no website apparently - sells stuff mainly through word of mouth.

The above info does not tie up with someone "in the know" who is a honest trader or even a barndoor owner for that matter!

"not sure how many windows, but lots ..." "RHD - early 50`s I think..."

He sounds as dodgy as F*+K to me!

Don't know who the guy I spoke to is - wouldn't know if he was just an opo there or not.
Others reckon he's OK and I wouldn't know either way!

I was on a flyer as it was my lunch and only posted it up as I've never seen anything remotely aircooled there.
There's nowt to hide on it for sure - it's a b****y tin can! 8O
As ever use your own eyes, go see it for yourself if its of interest and make your own judgements.
The only opinion that matters is the one buying it.
