That is most excellent. I have seen pics of this bus before, but never realised it was a barndoor. I also have a 'For Sale' ad for this bus somewhere when Beardalls were selling it!!

A few minor nuggets of information have very recently surfaced. Nothing that's going to set the world on fire, but I believe they are previously un-published facts. They are as follows:

The first commerical Type 2 officially delivered to the UK was in the final week of 1953. One single Kombi was delivered to VW Motors in London and immediately dispatched to the VW Distributor/Dealer, Modern Light Cars in Lodge Road, Southampton.

By the first week of April 1954, only 22 Type 2's had been ordered and delivered to the UK. Two of these were ambulances (the ambulance model was available in the UK from the third week of March 1954).

That's all for now.

I guess one of them still 90% original in original paint would be quite rare then?

If yours was built on the 8th April, then no.

Or maybe we're talking about another bus??

Thanks for the info Chris/Iain.

I kind-of lost track of who owns what :D

The info I divulged above is all that I have so there is no breakdown of models.
