it is very similar to a quater light catch, I was hoping I could find a replacement for the one I broke but it looks like I might have to adapt one from a quater light.

Creative engineering sell them, stainless around £20. The man at the mot station broke mine, so replaced with Creative one.
Why he decided to open, I have no idea.

Have found out that they are busboys safaris, so contacted them to see if they have any, they still do them so am just waiting on a price. :-)

These are modified quarterlight catches. BusBoys and Izzy used them on their early safaris.

Easy to turn out yourself, just buy a set of decent catches (wolfsburg west), cut the return off the bottom that fits over the glass.

Mark your holes, punch, drill and countersink........job done

i've got bus boys safaris and broke one of mine. Dead easy to modify a quarter light catch to fit. I think the latest one I put on was from a beetle.
