Devon - Mini Awning for Cargo doors???

Post by SplitScreenN00b » Wed Mar 11, 2009 1:41 pm

Hi guys

Does anyone know of any companies that sell/make reproductions?
The one I am after is the one that sits over the two side doors (66 Split). I beleive it fastens to the gutter on the far side of the bus, goes over the roof nd then sits on the tops of the doors. :?:

Sorry I haven't got any pics.

Cheers
Jeff

Here is the slightly larger awning shown with the roof clip, on a pukka early Devon.

Not sure about the day awning.. You can see the little clips that tie it down, just below the gutter on the A post, and in line with the end of the vents at the back.

Thanks Mike.

Would be great to get hold of an original and a day awning. I am thinking that a good marquee company should be able to make one, add eyelets and the rail cord and then all I would have to do is get the poles. If I have any success I will let you all know.

i have one with straps which i think go over to the other side of the bus i got it a couple of years ago ,anyone know how these fix on to the gutter on the opposite side? also has press studs on the corner which sits on the cargo doors when open but no pole to keep it tight so i am guessing i will just have to tie the doors back with a bit of guy rop or something to stop the wind catching them . it was second hand when i got it and didnt come with any instructions so a bit in the dark really!
i would go out tonight ,but i havn`t got a stitch to wear!

Hi gud, sounds like you have a devon awning the 2 straps go over the bus roof, they should have a popper on each end of the strap & the these pop onto the male part of the popper which is fixed to the other sides of the bus, it won't fix into the gutter, as the slop of it is to high, if you fix a peice of wood ( 2x1) underneath in line with the poppers on the corners this fits on top of the doors, stopping them moving,.
If you don't want to throw the staps all the way over the bus roof , & you're not bothered about altering it then you could cut the straps off & shorten the canvas putting a hem on, so a ploe will fit through and you can then fix it to the gutter.
