My van destroyed by Fire on way to Action

Post by Rock Bus » Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:03 pm

I had every van owners nightmare come true on the way to Action

Only 5 miles away from the site my van lost all power and I had to pull off the dual carriage way
As I come off smoke starts coming out of the engine bay

Thank God have time for my wife and 3 kids (aged 1,3 and 5) to get out of the van before cab starts filling up with smoke

Within what seemed like a few minutes flames are coming out of the engine bay and by the time the fire brigade have arrived the whole van is alight.

Van has been totally destroyed along with all the contents (which adds up to c£1.5k and where can only claim £100 on the van insurance and it is not covered under my household)

I know the important thing is that myself and family are safe but I am absolutely gutted and feel like I have lost a part of me.

My van was regularly serviced but can only guess it was something to do with the fuel line .. given my experience would suggest you all check yours now as the consequences are devastating

Apologies for the babbling but need to get the experience off my chest  [/img]

I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your bus to a fire. :(

Glad you and your family are OK.

Hope you're going to stick with split busses after this dreadful episode.

If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough.

Jees... I feel terrible for you. Thank goodness your family are all OK.

Does make me wonder if the firetec system I've fitted would be man enough if push came to shove.

I think I'm going to have to fit a fuel cut off valve that I can switch on and off from the cab.

Really hope you don't lose the faith amigo.
