Pre '58 busses

Post by JohnB » Wed Jun 19, 2019 7:16 pm

Can anyone help me with this query please? I am looking at a 1957 bus with semaphores. I am being told that the bus only has one chassis plate (in the engine bay). I know the later busses I have been looking at have 2 plates (engine bay and behind the seats). Is there any semblance of truth in this or is it a case of get back out there looking?

Thanks

John

You should have a chassis number stamped on the bulkhead as well.

"Before October, 1958, there was no M-code plate but a body number was stamped behind the front seat.  Although the body numbers are sequential, it is basically useless."

Yes but a true pre 58 bus should still have it nonetheless!
