Flashing to fast!
Flashing to fast!
Hi guys, just installed a 12v flasher unit to my 56 single cab . Trouble is it flashes far to quick compared to the 6 v unit ( before it packed up) any ideas if I can buy an adjustable one , or is there anything I can do with this one ? Kind regards neil

Neil, why would you put a 12v flasher on a 6 v setup, not to sure if it's compatable, when it flashes fast are all the indicaters operating as they should......just faster ?

Re: Flashing to fast!
Sorry ron , have converted truck to 12v when I ran 12v through 6 v flasher unit it was fine . I've blown the 6 v flasher now, hence I've now installed a 12 v unit. Kind regards neil

Do you have 2x 21w indicator bulbs on each circuit? I guess not.

What's flashing at the front and back?

Re: Flashing to fast!
I've had that with a dodgy connection or cable up front. N'ot sure which, but probably earth. If I moved the relay it would rapidly tick. The ticking was much faster than the blown-bulb symptom and would occasionally do it so fast it sounded like it was buzzing. If all the bulbs are working and the correct wattage try gently manipulating the cables at the relay and bulb holders and see if there's a point where it flashes normally.
Re: Flashing to fast!
The strange thing is , it worked fine on the 6 v relay with 12 v through it . It blew when I connected the regulator producing more volts I guess! Is there anything I can put inline to reduce the volts to slow it down?

Are they filament bulbs all round?
What does the flasher box say on it?
? X 21w?
