Yes, my experience has told me you'll have to pay extra once it arrives.

Yes, I imported one, phone them direct, speak to Al, he’s a very helpful Brit living over there.
I had to pay import tax, but it still worked out cheaper.
If you ask nicely they might put the balue of the item lower on the tag, which is what the tax is based on.

Please could you keep me in the loop with the shifter, potentially in the market for one myself.

I did the same. Dealt with them direct and it still worked out cheaper even with the customs charge.

If you can afford it stretch to the locking option. Great for extra security and peace of mind.

What flatbeat said. Mine is lockable and it certainly adds another level of security

Just be aware that if they under value it on the paperwork so you save on duty, if it goes missing in transit you’ll only be able to claim back what it was valued at.
Better if you know someone that’s going over there to have it delivered to them and bring it back in their luggage.

You'll pay vat @ 20% plus a post office/Parcelforce handling charge of £8.
Vat is paid on the shipping cost as well as the cost of goods.

If you're not looking at the Berg locker option then it's worth taking a look at Bugtec shifters...available through Hayburner I think. Excellent quality.

Cheaper to buy from Aircooled Hut at £299. Ordered direct from Gene Berg and comes to around £310.
