Anybody done the museums..?

Post by Dougie » Tue Aug 28, 2018 4:00 pm

Very early days at the moment but I'm looking at a trip over to the VW factories next summer. My first delves into Google and Google maps show that Osnabruck, Hannover and Wolfsburg are in a fairly straight line from the Hook of Holland which is an easy ferry hop, Wolfsburg is at the far end but only about 300 miles from the ferry.
I'd like to take the van and camp on the way, hopefully make a week of it.
Has anybody done anything similar? Any pointers or advice gratefully received..

We did Wolfsburg in 2004 and it was amazing!
I'd be up for a "club tour of the museums" if the club was able to organise something for 2019 (if that's an option you'd like to put to the committee?)

From what I've been able to find Harwich to the Hook of Holland is about £100 each way for a van and two passengers. I was thinking of taking a week over it .

Take the overnight from Harwich to the Hook. More expensive but you'll save a lot of time.
Interested in 1/4 light/sliding window locks? Please PM me.

Been to the Autostadt a few times, also the VW museum. Both worth a visit.

There's a campsite near the Autostadt on a lake, which is nice, last time we were there we just wild camped at the lake.

The Karmann museum is worth a visit. Not sure if that's by arrangement only though as we'd booked to have a look around / into the basement where the non-display vehicles and parts are kept.
Supplying quality in house designed items plus parts from SyncLink, Kennedy Clutches, & CB Performance. Also fitting service including modifications & mechanical upgrades.
