Have always booked ours on as a car (under 2.2m x 6m) never had any problems.
Depends where you are going, we use Dover to Calais usually but we’re heading into Belgium at the end of our trip so coming back from Dunkirk.
Cost us £136 this year, leaving on a Friday lunchtime and retuning two weeks later on a Sunday lunchtime.

I see no shame in it, if we end up on one of them it’s pretty serious, we were 800 miles from home at the time too!philsparks wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 6:33 pmThat a sight I only want to see once . Touch wood . My wife called it the ride of shame. Ha ha

Re: Ferry
I’ve always booked as a car based van but lately they’re being difficult pretty much every crossing now as lots of newbies are being trained and supervised.
If you take a jerrycan i’d Say hide it, they made me go out the port for it and the next time I just put it inside and no issues.
Also, they are starting to get really annoyed if your bus is lowered..
I had a 1 off last time as was with whole family..
Shame the train is so expensive as the service is a million miles better on everything..

Re: Ferry
Oh also we had breakdown cover with RAC, our regulator packed up in Le Mans, RAC we're amazing, sorted us a hotel, tried to help find parts but couldnt in the time frame we had so helped us get a new battery, we charged to old one and they booked us on a ferry that was closer so we had less distance to drive.
