Sounds like it's from a 1972/73 onwards Bay with the 1600TP engine. I have one in my garage that has a square support bar. It's a pleasure - if you want to be really sure about killing the rust spray it with Metalready (also from Frosts) before you paint with POR 15, but make sure you wipe off any Metalready that is still liquid - use a wet cloth and be careful because the stuff is acid!

POR 15 followed within 3 hours by POR 15 etch primer, then spray it with enamel to match the body. POR 15 will stop any surface rust and is amazingly heatproof. Buy it from Frosts.
