anyone recommend someone to s/a my split?

I am looking for someone to supply and fit a straight axle kit and dropped spindles on my 65 split. I just dont have the time to source all the parts and fit them and my original gearbox is on its last legs so I will need to convert soon or be without transport. I live near peterborough/grantham and...

Thanks everyone. I have spoken to an office at the DVLA and they have also confirmed that it needs belt after 1 January 1965. As mine is an import from sweden and was given a date of june 1965 looks like it will be belts for me.

Have belts on order and wil read up how to fit.

65 split failed mot as no front seat belts & handbrake a

Although my split was mot'd when I brought it, taking it down for a retest it failed as there are not seat belts. I read the guidance book with him and it does seem that it needs them. There are no mounting holes so I am going to have to retro fi them but is anyone able to show me pictures of where ...

What oil is best to use in the gearbox and reduction gears as there seems to be a great deal to choose from?

Gearbox Oil for a 1500 split

Gearbox is a little noisy, should check for oil levels.

Thanks

1600tp into splitty flywheel different??

I have removed my blown 1500sp and on trying to fit the 1600tp, I have changed the clutch release as advised but it still wouldnt fit. On removing, I have measure the flywheel on the original 1500sp and this is 270mm diameter and on checking the flywheel on the 1600tp I am putting in, this is 275mm....

Fuel Gauge reading full

I have 65 split and the fuel guage was reading 1/2 full when the tank was full. I tested the guage by grounding the sender wire and the guage went to full which seems to indicate the guage is fine. I then fitted a new sender and with an empty tank the guage is reading full. The sender has an earth w...

Topic: Engine blown on my Splitty - recomended replacement?

Much appreciated advice. I think I will go for a 1600 twinport and keep things reliable. As long as I can jog along at 65-70 that is plenty quick enough, but 50-55 was just too slow (althought this pay of course be due to the previous engine being shot). Can any recomend any other suppliers that the...

Engine blown on my Splitty - recomended replacement?

My 1500 singleport has finally given up (adhoc banging and white smoke then its fine, than banging and smoke and loss of power then fine). Severe loss of power. Dont know much about engines, but I will strip it. I had been suffering low oil pressure (flickering oil pressure light at idle) so I think...
