Re: How to replace steering wheel shaft bearing/bush

It's a video wasn't sure if it would work although the link works for me. Yes it's the bearing at the top of the shaft just under the steering wheel. I'm really hoping it's not a box/shaft out as where the bus is stored nowhere I do it.

How to replace steering wheel shaft bearing/bush

Taken the wheel off as I had movement forward and back, left and right and looks like there is a bearing inside the outer shaft that's knackered. It was an advisory on the last mot so want to get it done and it's getting worse. New link http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii275/presland123/Temp/th_IM...

Re: Fitting steering cushion and clamp set

That's fantastic step by step guide. Yes, all screws nice and tight. Always been a lot of movement but last years mot man was first to have an issue with it. Will check again though as per your reply and at least if he fails I know how to replace.

Thanks
David

Fitting steering cushion and clamp set

Hi, mot chap wasn't happy with the amount of movement in the column where it passes through the bracket attached to the dash. I see you can get a new steering cushion and clamp, but how big a job is it to fit the new bits?

Re: Csp 14" front discs - replacing rotors?

Thanks, missed that. Basic info but it's just undoing a few bolts by the look of it.

Any views on what's best drilled or solid?

Csp 14" front discs - replacing rotors?

Had an advisory last year about disks work/damaged but wasn't a fail. To be honest, more had gone a but crusty as drove it in all conditions. Mine are the solid 14 versions for my 65 bus. I see that you can get replacement rotors from jk but not sure they can be used in my case?. 150 for a pair of s...

Re: How can I check the engine size

Well it's a 1200. Tis a shame but once I've used it for moving the bug around, I'll sell it on and look for a 1600

Re: How can I check the engine size

Thanks for the ideas about what to check.

Sorry, yes I know that but it's still work I'm trying to avoid for now.

will measure between the exhaust studs tomorrow as I've been given the correct width between the studs for a 1200.

How can I check the engine size

Just brought this engine, it was from a us import bay. As you will see from the pics can't tell from the number, but engine fired up well and no end float and seems a good engine at first glance. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii275/presland123/Temp/image_zpscufby0qn.jpeg http://i266.photobucket...

I've heard about putting chocks of wood in the hinges to help with alignment issues, but don't really get what you do. Where do you put the blocks as think will give a try on mine as tried everything else and just can't the gaps I'm happy with.

Re: lhd rascal steering conversion

Thanks jim will keep an eye on your site for the new columns. Will you also be supplying the ujs to connect the rack to your column or are they just standard ones?

I assum you won't be making the brackets, but could make those if not?
