Where has my gearbox code gone!?

Tried to find out what gearbox my ‘66 has but It looks like there is no code where it’s supposed to be. Any ideas why there’s no code there? I have given the area a good scrub with degreaser and scotch brite.

Gearboxes 6v and 12v

I thought/assumed my ‘66 project bus was 12v but discovered today that the starter motor was 6v and therefore presumably a 6v gearbox that will not accommodate a 12v flywheel. I have recently built a 1600 tp with 12v ancillaries and flywheel that I was going to install soon but now have to deal with...

Rear roof cut for sale

The section is completely rot free with only surface rust which could easily be sanded off. It is also straight with no previous welding. Obviously due to the size of the part it would be much easier for the buyer to collect. However if you wish to arrange a courier I can attempt to box it up. Thank...

Re: OG steering lock

That one has had quite a blasting, I doubt the lock barrel would be any good even if you got a key to match. I have a used complete one on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122775274670 I sand blasted this myself as the whole thing had been painted with a brush and looked a right mess. I was careful ...

Re: OG steering lock

At first I thought that the lock barrel itself could be unscrewed from its housing using a large flat blade screwdriver in the key hole. However, looking closer there appears to be a pin on the side which is pressed in and prabably secures the lock barrel. I may just take it to a locksmith and see w...

OG steering lock

I was pleased to find that my bus still had the origional steering lock attached but unfortunately the key and switch are long gone. Can anybody advise me on where I can get hold of a switch and what I can do about the key? I believe the part number is VWC-211-905-851-E. :cyclopsani: IMG_7241.JPG IM...

:D I did get carried away reading it at work once, started about half way through though. I'll have to give it another look. Cheers.

Full side panel replacement

Decided I don't want to be spending weeks straightening/filling/welding the side of my resto bus ready for paint when I have found that you can purchase a nice new, straight, shiny one. Just wondered if anybody has any experience of replacing this panel, it's from the rear corner to the b piller and...

Engine lid question

I am in the process of restoring a '66 bus and wondered if anyone can tell me if the '59-'65 church key style engine lid/rear valance and the 66-67 push button engine lid/rear valance are interchangable. The engine lid that was on the bus when I bought it is in need of major repair and I have since ...
