Cooker unit oak profile sizes......

Hoping somebody might be able to help. Before making my own interior I’m making a cooker unit for a friend. It doesn’t have to be perfect but I would like to get the profile sizes correct. Unfortunately I have a 64 unit and he wants an earlier unit All I have are photos to go from. All I really want...

Re: Another unit needing identification ;)

Hi Russ. Just remember to double check the bench seats and the cookerwardrobe width match the width of your bus. The units I replicated mine from were slightly too long, so had to make adjustments accordingly. https://www.ssvc.org.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=101687&start=270 Will try and email you...

Re: Another unit needing identification ;)

Well.. early on Devon made interiors for customer's buses.. Their first brochure 1956 1957 shows a barndoor bus built a few years before. Early years customers could take their buses to be converted. It is recorded that US airmen could order a bare bus from VW and collect it from the factory. They ...

Re: Another unit needing identification ;)

I have pictures of an actual LHD Devon Caravette interior bought by Rippers a poster on here.. He sought to verify it was a LHD OG interior.....which it was...even signed and marked and dated as LHD.. The cutting of oak veneer is either crown cut or quarter cut veneer. If you google you will see th...

Re: Another unit needing identification ;)

Had a chance to look closely at pictures of samba with that interior fitted. I would say that interior was not original to that bus. Just saying brcause you commented on modifications.. The front of the rear seat is correct for the year with "legs" at each end but it has been cut to clear the heate...

Re: Another unit needing identification ;)

Yep 1964 one year only this one. First year of the cooker there, it was a sink unit up until 63 with the cooker on the door instead. I also speculated knee protection ...which they then decided was too expensive so aborted back to a simple square corner for 65 onwards in typical Devon fashion. The ...

Re: Another unit needing identification ;)

Another question, mainly because I’m curious... I have a few devon items from a 64, cooker unit, wardrobe, table and both benches. Is there any reason they made the cooker unit with a 45 degree angle section on the corner rather that a normal square corner? Also what years would have had this cooker...

Another unit needing identification ;)

I have been collecting devon bits mostly 64/65 and I was told this piece has come from a 65? I didn’t think it was an original piece but it does have a number stamped on the lid....

Any info would be greatly appreciated as always

Re: Door unit and cooker identification....

Ah, the hinges are (were) all riveted on this unit.
They won’t be now tho.
I definitely won’t be touching the slider.

I have another question
What is the correct name for the Formica on the inside of this unit? And do you know if it’s still available?
Cheers for your help
