Re: Late heat exchangers to early pods.....

No great update yet but I now have some custom made reducers and a length of polylock flexible exhaust so I am hoping to get it all fitted over the Christmas period fingers crossed.

Re: Ice pick handle base

Sure looks the part! It is a 62 base. Has shorter front tooth and has the ribs underneath right to the back. The centre bar looks in the correct place. It looks like the base on the broken handle pictured! Looks like my broken bases. Thank you for your help as always Graham it’s greatly appreciated 👍

Re: Late heat exchangers to early pods.....

I found a company on ebay that makes exhaust parts and got them to make me adaptors. The specification I gave them was... 60mm inside diameter to 50mm outside diameter, with the wide ends 25mm long and the narrow ends 50mm long, I used this seller on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/everyexhaustpart...

Late heat exchangers to early pods.....

I am in the process of connecting my heating up on my 62 bus! Well, I’m trying to anyway  I have identified that I have late (larger) heat exchangers and my bus has early (smaller) pods. I have been looking at rigging up a flexi exhaust with a reduced on one end but thought I would ask the ques...

Re: Ice pick handle base

That would add to the collective knowledge but... IIRC...both my 62 handles had smashed bases, so those were both fitted to my 62 but neither handle returned so did not have operating springs. I thought the springs were broken. So I stripped them off to find that the bases were smashed. They were s...

Re: Ice pick handle base

That is an ice pick base but looks to be the same as the loose base he has? Do you know what hear this was from? Maybe a makers variation! The bar to screw support distance looks longer. I never checked to see if there was a difference between locking and non locking.. that needs to be checked.. sa...

Re: Ice pick handle base

Hi, it is a regular problem that bases break. The handle castings are made of Mazac or 'Monkey metal''. A polished and chromed, lowish melting point Zinc 95% Aluminium 5% alloy. The chrome is porous and the Mazac surface corrodes/ bubbles/ blisters. It becomes weak over time and brittle. Ice pick h...

Ice pick handle base

Hi, I am on the look out for a passenger Ice pick handle base plate as mine is broken where the spring hooks over. My bus is a 62. I have another base plate (on the right in the photo) but it’s different to mine. Thought I’d show the difference to help identify the one I need (on the left) Cheers in...

Butty’s bits Porsche adapters

Butty’s bits wide 5 (5x205) to Porsche (5x130) wheel adapters.
Solid steel so perfect for a bus.
Generally quite hard to get hold of.
