Re: Accelerator cable tube/fan shroud

Just noticed whilst underneath my 66 bus when changing the clutch cable that the accelerator cable is sawing its way through the gearbox casing 8O It appears to have been doing this for years, as there are many DEEP cuts/grooves in the ally gearbox case, in fact I had to dig the cable out of the all...

Re: 1500 SP performance

60-65 is too fast for a stock bus with reduction boxes. 55 - 60 is about right. If you cruise at 60-65 your 1500 engine won't last very long and you will burn a lot of fuel. My 1500 stock buses do around 31mpg at 55-60 and keep nice and cool. Exactly what I was thinking. I never take mine over 55. ...

(my spare's in the bulkhead)

Re: 1500 SP performance

I'm a complete VDub newbie - but I picked up my Devon Camper last week and instantly had a 2hr journey down the M6 - now thats a baptism of fire 8O The performance (or lack of) was a big worry of mine but.... I was actually pleasantly surprised at just how well the van went - its 66/67 completely st...

Re: What jack do you carry?

How handy - I was only going to post about the Jack today - someone beat me to it  Here is the link to the GSF original type: http://www.veewee.co.uk/index.php/parts/tools-books-oils/tools/987vg0010?vehicle=VW-Camper+55+-+67 Where was the jack kept when the van was new? inside the spare wheel?...

Re: Split screen noob - some basic user questions if you ple

Do you mean one of these (pinched off the JustKampers site :D ) and a Bush Kit might make the gearchange a lot better....

Split screen noob - some basic user questions if you please?

After months of looking finally picked up a lovely condition Velvet Green 67 Devon split screen yesterday - drove it home 2 hours on the M6 - hummed along very nicely actually - but I have never had a VeeDub of any sort before, but have had old 70's sportscars (Spitfires, Midgets etc), and was a mec...

Re: Pedal lock on a budget

Hi Ian,

Also very interested in a RHD drive too - I live in Bridgnorth, so could possibly collect if that's easier?
How much were they in the end?

Re: What's My Hole For? (Updated)

Hi, very sorry to drag back up an old thread.... :D

Notasprint - your rear seatbelts on that welded plate - what model seatbelts are those? - very interested as they are a long two point but obviously can fit at any angle, whereas most seatbelts have to mounted upright....

Any ideas?

Cheers TED
