If I had the original would either repair it or make a new one but on my bus its totally missing. Seen variuos beetl...

Re: " Trixie " our adventure begins.........

Cheers all, so full of enthusiasm and with the whole family feeling the love she will be well looked after. Weird how any work seems should just be a five minute job but just turns into weeks, find a problem sort or order parts fix only for the next thing to arise.

Re: Engine Codes & query

Re: Insurance?

My wife simply tyed in classic car insurance & filled in a online comparison site form. Several companies then called us with quotes so was real simple. Ended up going with a firm called net pig who seemed the most friendly, guess one of them things you never know till you try to claim. Fully comp w...

" Trix " our 66 adventure continues.............

Totally new to the VW splitty scene, had for many years admired them but never the finances to full fill that dream or own one. After turning 40 this year the realisation of life wizzing by kids growing up & possibly a reality check of where life was taking me. A bit of inheritance gave us this oper...

Engine Codes & query

I have a 66 import which is said to have a 1600 engine, it has a delorto carb and as a package has a good amount of grunt. How or where will I find a code on the engine to say what it is? The only letters I can find are DH which is etched onto the block under the distributor. On the flat between the...

Re: Auto Fire Extinguisher - Gas or Foam?

New to campers but as a fireman see the ease of the inert gas but with so many vents in the engine bay an initial knock down of the fire will be achieved but a re ignition will be so easy as it does not cool the problem area. Personally I'm Just going to carry a foam extinguisher in the cab as the c...

Re: Dynamo stand & 1/4 light window

Cheers scoop & empi. The glass came out real easy, drilled out rivets and just clipped in new catch for security till I can get some rivets. Glass n rubbers slid in real easy guess due to age. Found the holes in tinware where screws should of been so all secure now making it more rigid. Went for a l...

Dynamo stand & 1/4 light window

Having just bought my 1st splitty so new to this so a couple of questions to glean some knowledge. The dynamo stand which connects to the main engine case is cracked across the 4 mounting bolts, not a problem as already off & new part in hand. The dynamo is bolted or fitted to the fan housing tinwar...
