rebuilding my 2276

OK rebuilding my motor due to a apparent woodruff key failure on the timing gear. Considering upping to an 84mm crank. Been offered very low milage 48 idf 's for my 45 Del's. Not fixed on a can choice but looking for any ideas or comments. Looking to also move away from using this as daily motor all...

Re: Engine starts but cuts out

Check the rod under the fuel pump.
I've had it in the past where the rod would get stuck in the bakerlight pedastal. Leave a few minutes starts up, few miles cuts out.
Just replaced the pedastal. Problem solved

Re: SCAT rocker covers for ratio rockers

Running scat covers with the tabs to hold the gasket in place. No probs what so ever.

2276 with autocraft rockers. Just some grease on the gaskets. No leaks!!!!!

Re: Best place for 12volt/cigerette lighter socket ??

I've got 4 fitted in my westy.

1, fitted where Jim was suggesting, in the back side of the shelf.
2, fitted in the side of each walk through seat base
1, fitted in the arm rest of my rear seat.

Re: Millers oil - Their recomendations

I read so many comments from wiser people on here about different oils and it can blow your mind.

So many different points of view of what's best, but the underlying advice from everyone is to change your oil often.

I choose to change my oil often based on my mileage and driving style. Hard!!

Re: Millers oil - Their recomendations

I use milers classic performance 20/50 in my 2276.

Engine done nearly 5000 miles since May and have had no issues and have stuck with the it.

I could go thinner and sacrifice some oil pressure but happy to stick with 20/50

Daily driver.

Re: Oil breather question

CB breather tower is my choice.

If you have stock motor there is no need for breather pipes anyway.

Re: Leisure battery

I've already stuck a "normal" battery on as a stop gap. It was the last battery I was using on the bus before I put the 2276 in. I ended up replacing it with a higher CCA unit. Leisure is currently charging, but could I leave the other battery in long term until its knackered?? Would rather use up t...

Re: Leisure battery

I would class it as a leisure battery which is charged from the alternator via a split relay. 88ah Battery has been in for over a year which simply ran stereo, rear interior lights & 3 rear cigarette sockets. The propex was fitted in January along with external oil cooler/fan. Everything has ran gre...

Re: Leisure battery

Arrrrrrh

It did get flattened at bug jam running a cool box.
It charged back up fine but this current problem only came to light when I tried to use the propex at bb whilst parked up.

Clearly it never really recovered and when driving everything ran fine.

New battery then

Thanx

Leisure battery

Hi all My leisure battery runs my stereo, oil cooling fan, propex, in-line propex blower. Right my leisure battery doesn't seem to be holding a 12v charge unless the engine is running. So my propex will not fire unless the engine is running or will only run for a short time after a run before cuttin...
