Re: Can someone give me an idea of value? Pics included.

As with all VW literature condition is important when it comes to value.
With this in mind you haven't said anything about the condition of the Instruction Manual - the cover looks tidy but what is it like inside? Is it complete, any writing in it, tears to pages, greasy marks etc?

Re: Feeling ripped off ???

Maybe try SKF for German made??? At the risk of sounding pedantic, SKF is a Swedish company who invented/patented the ball bearing bearing back in 1907. Their bearings were held in such high regard that both the Allies and Nazi Germany in WW2 went to extraordinary lengths to safeguard supplies of t...

Re: VW Heritage Original Classic Parts Search

I spent countless hours last year inputting assorted part numbers into the system. Always worked, either telling you it wasn't available or was and if so the price (in sterling). Re: samba 16k

If you look more closely at the ad, the price is stated at 18K British Pounds, in the bottom left corner.
A month ago you could get 1.61 dollars to the pound, today 1.52, next week....?

Re: Vanfest - game over?

I usually go as a day visitor - it's a nice run from Bristol. Staggered to see that this year they have hiked the day visitor admission price up from £10 to £15!!!.
How can they justify this?

Re: samba sliding door help

The VW Parts Book states that Buses with sliding doors were from chassis number 1 096 222, this equates to the first half of 1963.
The relevant M number (optional extra) for a Samba is M164.

Thought I recognised it. Maybe not on closer inspection - must be its twin.
Picture below taken in the car park of hotel I stayed at just outside Hessisch Oldendorf two years ago.
