Breather box

Any tips for a decent one? Running a 2.1 with a turbo and the crank case pressure is blowing out of the dipstick hole despite having 1/2 breathers on the rockers. a feed from the blanked off fuel pump fitting (running electric fuel pump) and all into a CSP tower breather, Even got a 1/2 pipe going t...

weight of bus

Despite not actually getting to the strip this year, I've been busy preparing for it. Just had the bus MOT'd and they have modern weight sysyem as part of the brake test. You put it on the two parallel runners and then go backwards and forward's, braking on the forward runs when requested. Cool for ...

Re: CSP disc's. What wheel bearing?

Cheer's Billy,

It passed well :D , just a little play in the bearing so I will have a look and see if it can be nipped up or if needed, replaced.

CSP disc's. What wheel bearing?

Got the MOT today, should be ok but I have a little grumble from the front nearside wheel.

I'm thinking it could be the wheel bearing but the bus is on CSP disc's, It came with them on so I don't know that much about them.

What wheel bearings do they use? the original drum ones?

Re: Action Stations

Van mended, it looks to have been a interferance issue, so a re-route of some of the wiring loom and a change to resistor plugs has sorted it, did a 25 mile round trip and the missfire has gone and it's smooth as a baby's bum from idle upwards. Powerful too :D All set to go to Action but little un h...

Re: Action Stations

I heard stef had worked his magic and got to the bottom of the problem, from what Menace was telling me, it's gonna fly now!! I've still not had chance to look at interferance issue I have, this afternoon is looking good. Then I have to look at the dump valve as I think it's leaking a little. Must s...

Re: Replacement engine

Type 1 heads aren't really CC specific. You need to look at the bore size and then order them or have them machined for that. SSP or VW speedshop can help you there and mildly uprated ones are not too badly priced. As for carb's well you will find there is lot's of opinion's available. The stock jet...

Re: Replacement engine

Is the 1835 beyond a rebuild? If it is rebuildable, you could save yourself a fair few bucks. Barrells and pistons arn't too much money and if the bottom end is still good or easy to sort, you may have money for better head's, cam or carbs.

How do you know it's beyond repair?

Re: Replacement engine

VZi will turn up a few, I'd go for something with a bit more displacement rather than cammed up to the nine's if it's going in a bus. You can apparently do it with a fairly high tuned 1776 in a stripped out van but the larger the cc, the less stressed out it will be and nicer to drive.

Re: Action Stations

Maybe, just sorting out this annoying misfire I get. Come on pal even with a misfire you could have most of us  JD, Buzzer's - you can't believe how much it's hurting me not to get it on the track but gotta get it right. Not only that, when it play's up it's a right pain too!! Might have got t...

Re: New Rims & Tyres

It's majorly affected by your RGB's and final drive. If it's a 67, you'll be on big nut RGB's, but the final drive is still low, hence the lower top speed on what are low profile tire's from stock. I'm sure the stock police on here will tell you what the original profile would have been. I have a st...

Hopefully it's something as simple as that but have you done a compression test?

Re: Throwing fan belts.

Tufty, put me down for it. I had breathing issues at first too, I ended up running a line to the air filter and lowering the level (big sump) to just on the lower mark. seems to have sorted it once the engine had run in.

Oh, it's atoothed belt, all I could get.
