Contact adhesive will be fine. Some will say the the rubber should stay in without glue, but I put a few dabs on mine to be sure

What do you mean by totally knackered? If the inner face is grooved you could have it skimmed flat again.

Quite straight forward Jonny. Crack off the locking nut that secures the Allen screw that locates in the leaf springs dimple. Wind out the Allen screws (do one end at a time), then pull off the trailing arm. Repeat for the other side. Job done. You can by all means check the condition of the leaves ...

No.

But if you really really want to change, go for 1776. IMHO 1641 is a nice beetle upgrade, but that little bit more from a 1776 will serve you well. Speak to Dan Simpson at Vintage Speed.

.....or drill out the 3mm pin holding the stud in the trailing arm. Then set up your trailing arm in the pillar drill and find centre of the stud and drill it out. You can then machine up a new stud, drill thru for a new roll pin and you've done the job properly. I've just done both mine after narro...
