Re: What shocks !!!

Measure like Alex said then match up a set of spax you can't just buy a set blind hoping they will fit because someone else has them.
I would use protech shocks instead of spax, much better build quality and look good too.

Re: Which shocks for IRS conversion

The only way is to measure between the top and bottom mounts and go from there. I recommend protech shocks, much lighter than spax and they aren't a hideous colour, really nicely engineered and you can get them supplied with rose joint ends as IRS conversions normally end up with the top and bottom ...

Re: Where have you put your turbo?

I haven't scrolled back but what engine you using? Where you have it is pretty much where it goes when used on a type1 motor but on the left hand side and under the valance, just make sure it's high enough for the oil drain.
Sure you'll manage though considering the work you've done so far :)

Re: Original sliding sunroof donor section...value?

Just look at bus prices 10 years ago compared to today, work out the increase and apply that to your roof.
Parts increase in value just as the the buses do.
Got to be worth way more than 10 years ago!

Re: Where have you put your turbo?

Don't have the air intake in the engine bay like the CB performance ones do as it just sucks all the hot air back into the engine!

Just the roof without the sunroof is worth £1500 these days.

Always interesting to check in on this thread :)
I could do with having a new header tank to accept ice cubes for my charge-cooler building if you want some practice :)

Re: BRAND NEW Sambas & Barndoors

I hope this guy has millions to do this as Gersons been doing it for 13 years and still hasn't really offered a full shell to buy. Great idea if he wants to spend out millions trying but i think the cost of buying one of these finished shells will way exceed just getting one restored from an origina...

Some Ali crank pulleys cause oil leaks as they aren't a great fit, why do you want an Ali pulley? I'd keep the stock one of its a stock motor.

Re: drops of oil from irs cv joint on gearbox

If it's gearbox oil then I'm guessing your drive shafts are too long resulting in them hammering the rubber seal in the end of the drive flanges when you hit undulations in the road. I take it your bus lowered as this is a common problem with irs conversions, you'll need to measure then shorten your...
