Re: Whistling !!

I've had this as the rear part of the quarter light glass didn't sit tightly against the seal. I tried to manipulate the seal but it was no good. I've now got a strip of that plastic "U" shaped stuff that holds papers together like this http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/catalog/catalogSku.do?id=ND53827...

Re: Star adjuster pushing brake pad out

From memory they adjust in and out because of the thread on the "bolt" part that slots into the holder and on to the end of the brake shoe. Sounds like your thread is damaged may be so a simple and cheap fix to buy a new one along with a new star adjuster I would suggest and just pop it in as the ho...

Campsite near to littlehampton/arundel

Happy new year all. I'm after a bit of help. We are considering having a week or so near to littlehampton/arundel in the summer and wondered if anyone has any campsite recommendations (don't mind being a little further afield for a good site) as we are struggling to find a good site through the usua...

Re: Steering box oil

I had a slight leak on mine once. I drained the oil out and was recommended this stuff, since then I've not noticed a leak so may be worth a try first. Also available from other suppliers!

Re: Front screen rubbers & heated glass

On the heated screens someone had a batch made up a good while back now, I'm not sure you can buy them separately from suppliers. Ironically I got some at the time and have never got round to fitting them so they are still wrapped up in the garage! Hence, I can't comment on actually how good they ar...

Re: Poor idle and cutting out.

I've just had exactly the same thing today. Van was running brilliantly then on the way home I thought it felt a little odd and then it just stalled at the junction. Last time it happened it was the fuel cut off solenoid wire which had come loose but not this time. I checked the timing and all was o...

Re: Convoy Stanford hall

As richard says you would need to get to VF to join the convoy because you pay for your entrance to the show there and get given something to put in the window to show you have paid. That is unless you want to hold up the convoy on the way in!!

Re: Cable boots

Would these not do the same job if you just trimmed the hole so it was a little larger? I can't remember seeing an alternative but would happily be corrected. Thinking about it, don't the handbrake cables go through a sleeve which attaches to the end of the guide tube and then into the brake drum at...

Is this what you mean? Can't see them for earlier split bus but they may work on both I guess.

Re: Fuel tank removal

Yes that's right the spout is solid but there is a rubber "gasket" which fits around the neck of the tank and between it and the bodywork. See link below: https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/split-bus/211201255/fuel-filler-neck-to-body-seal-t2-55-67/ Hence, it may be worth replacing this for a new one w...

That's right. Just turn the steering wheel and it will eventually come into sight.

Re: Engine removal ! Bolt location's.

Upper right as you look at the gearbox above is accessed from behind the fan shroud inside the engine bay. It uses the starter motor to lock the bolt into place as you undo it. For the upper left (using same picture) get back under the bus and slide up to/past the nose cone on the gearbox. Lying on ...

Re: Backfire and cutting out after long journey

Panic over I think. Spotted fuel cut off wire was loose. Reattached and all seems fine. Does that sound right? Also tightened up manifold rubber boot clips.
