Language used on Facebook

It's always been an accepted rule that no bad language is to be used on the forum because we do have young members, or kids of members that may use/look at the forum from time to time. In the words of Schultz ' I know nothing' ....about IT stuff but I know there's something in place on the forum tha...

Re: Which cavity wax?

Dinitrol ML for cavities. Used it on several buses and it's still active after 10 years. I'll second Dinitrol. Either ML or Cavity Wax 3125. They can be us in combination....I think the ML first for greater penetration 8O ...followed by the Cavity Wax for a thicker cover. Personally I found it much...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

At present I left the rolling road with 128 main jets ,58 idles so he could stop the engine leaning out at high rpm because of the high advance curve .I still had a small stutter off idle so he stuck 60 pumps in and it’s sorted it as a temporary measure until I got my dizzy situation solved ,then h...

If the carb isn't pulling enough vacuum it will still work fine as the mechanical part is doing the main advancing.

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

Sorry....10000...Ten Thousand Revs 8O Are you sure :? All this waffle about using stock vac dizzy with twin carbs. The problem is you're only pulling half vacuum....from 2 cylinders. The stock carb is being pulled by all 4 cylinders, Just stick on a 009 Accuspark (good for the money) and it'll be fi...

Re: 1641 valve clearance setting

If it's got stock pushrods then 6 thou. If steel rods then you can set at 0 gap. Make sure engine is left overnight so stone cold before adjustment.

Re: Registering import with bigger engine

The MOT man won't be able to tell the difference just by looking at the engine what size it is so not necessary to tell him...it makes no difference anyway, the test is to see if the vehicle complies with current test regs. Same applies to mods done...its tested to see if it's safe. Better to tell D...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

I think I said timing way back..... Accuspark do an 009 for not much money...never had a problem with them. Timed right and with the correct jetting shouldn't have a flat spot. I have heard people having probs with Petronix. When you've sorted the dizzy put the jets back to 58 idle and 115 ma...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

Default I've been asked to check my pump jet non return valves are ok so will whip the carbs off tomoz and check them .Do the come in various sizes like the Webber's or do the dels just have one size return valve ? No just the one. Take the carb off and turn it upside down and you should be able to...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

I think you've got something else gong on then. If it's idling ok but stumbles when opening the throttle...and smells rich..then you'd expect winding it in to help. When you say engines warm are the manifolds actually warm to touch? Have you had the timing done which a gun at the correct revs etc? H...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

No no...wind them in some more if it 'stumbles' (dies a little) when flooring it then it's too rich. With 58's I'd expect 2.5 turns out to be max needed....poss a little less. The fact that it smells too rich supports this

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

You'll get away with a118 but not really necessary. A 122 will be way too rich and cause bogging down. With stock heads and mild cam 115 should be spot on. A 58'idle would also be better than a 60. Don't over compensate  Go to big and you'll be washing fuel down the bores and causing premature...
