Re: Og engine ????

Check on thesamba to see if the engine number is in the same month (or one either side) to the chassis number. If it is then it's very likely to be OG.

Alternatively ask VW. They won't tell you the original engine number for your chassis number but will confirm if it is OG if you send it to them

That's an ambitious date give the state of my bus. I'll give it a go though. Pete So what's happening to your bus Pete? I think the last time I saw it was at Stonor Park about 5 years ago. Re: Upgrading front brakes...

unless my drums were just shafted anyway You`ve hit the nail on the head there. If there was an improvement then it`s because a knackered braking system was removed and a properly working new one was fitted. It`s as simple as that. There is absolutely no reason why the discs would/should brake any ...

Re: Heritage letter enough to get aUS import registered??

Hi. In the never-ending battle of wills with the forces of DVLA darkness (Wimbledon branch) we got turned way with the MOT, import and export certificates from the US and a VW Birth Certificate from Germany. The German birth certificate apparently wasn't good enough - it has to be from VW in German...

Re: Know a god Splitscreen garage in London?

DVLA went wrong - they sent us packing as our birth certificate came from VW in Germany - VW in UK only accepted! A birth certificate comes from where it was manufactured all I have heard mentioned come from Germany and as far as I am aware no Split Screens were manufactured in the UK. If I am wron...

Camper vans in the Telegraph

More quality reporting :o

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/cla ... -vans.html

So, it's a "VW Campervan Type 1" apparently and a Porsche 911 engine will obviously drop right in.

BD parts -

Almost anything to do with the steering
Almost anything RHD
Reduction box parts
brake drums, front brake cylinders
Safari seals (the one round the outside of the frame)
interior lights
brake light
popout latches

That's some of the stuff I've had trouble with.
