Heat exchanger cable fitment

I'm just about to fit a new heater cable. I've cleaned the tubes and stripped the heater control knob assembly. The manual says the longer cable goes in the right hand guide tube, but doesn't state if that's looking from the rear of van to front or vice versa. Any help appreciated, ta.

Re: Heater sticking open

Cheers Ted, I've tried disconnecting the cables and it cures the problem so I'm going to fit the new cable and adjust carefully, hopefully it will be tickety boo.

Re: Heater sticking open

Cheers for reply Jim, the flaps seemed to snap shut so I will check the adjustment when I fit the new cable, hopefully fitting the cable channel grommets will stop any muck fouling operations.

Heater sticking open

Heater control knob works in my 1965 devon but heat will not shut off. Underneath van i've checked heat exchanger return levers and fitted stronger return springs. I have removed heater cable and ordered a new one as well as rubber cable bushes which were missing. Any advice on what may have caused ...

Gearbox leaks

Had adjustable rear spring plates and new straight axle tubes fitted as part of my 65 split resto. Problem is that gearbox oil is weeping, albeit only slowly from both sides of gearbox. I have tightened bolts without success. As a first aid measure I have applied blue hylomar jollop to restrict leak...

Headliner edging rubber strip

Can anybody tell me where to find the strip that slides onto the horizontal edge above the windows to grip and finish off the headlining on an 11 window 65 devon camper. The old strip I took off was like a reinforced black rubber "u" shaped long piece that pushed on to the rough edge and clamped the...

Re: Safe t pedal opinions and group buy?

I have had a safe t pedal for my 65 camper for 2 months which I bought from just kampers. They are industrial and robust and would deter any thief. However they are fiddly to fit due to the position of the steering column and the pedal rubbers which can snag. My van has just been restored and I am r...
