Re: Speedo Cable

The bus is German built, originally exported to Australia then imported to the UK a number of years ago. Speedo Cable

I’ve a 59 RHD. The speedometer needle has been bouncing around so I thought I’d change the cable. I bought a RHD cable p/n 214-957-801/F from Schofields. Problem is the square drive on the speedo end of the new cable is smaller than the old one. Is there different sizes of drives? The speedo is a 70...

Speedometer Issues

I took the van out for the first time this morning after it being laid up for the winter. The speedo started playing up a few miles onto the journey with the needle bouncing around once I got over 30mph. Mileometer worked fine snd I clocked up the number of miles I would expect. Speedo cable is ok a...

1776 Rebuild Costs

Has anyone any idea how much it would cost to get a 1776 rebuilt (excluding parts cost) by an experienced engine builder?

Re: 1964 Splitscreen Panelvan, Original Sign Writing PRICE DROP

Price dropped for a limited time to £23k. Why? Because if I can sell it in the next 2 weeks it will save me putting one of my Beetles into storage over the winter as I'll have room in the garage.

Still for sale, open to sensible offers close to the asking price as a 'project' that I've been looking for has become available.

Rear Wheel bolts loose

I've recently changed from Empis to 15" steel wheels and now the rear wheel bolts keep coming loose. As you would expect, the nearside is worse than the offside. Although the wheels are powder coated, I've removed the paint around the bolt area to ensure metal to metal contact. Today I torqued them ...

Re: Wipers won't park

I'm testing it with one wiper arm fitted and the spring force onto the screen it is pretty low. I've just ordered a new set of wiper arms so will try them and see if the extra resistance will stop the overshoot.

Re: Wipers won't park

Even if they don't park, I do expect them to turn off when the switch is pushed back in. At the moment, only way to stop them is to pull the battery +ve. lead. Hence my thoughts are that the switch can't handle the 12v.

Wipers won't park

One for the wiper and electrical gurus. Problem is on my '59 Beetle but I think the same appliers to Splits When I bought the Beetle, it had been converted to 12 v but was still running a 6v SWF wiper motor. After trying a voltage drop resistor, I decided to replace the wiper motor armature with a 1...
