Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

Not completely . I think it was down to the 36’s being to much for a 1641 . As it was really only when pulling away hard basically the motor couldn’t draw enough the the carbs required hence the small dip. Had I had performance heads and a cam it might of sorted it but I’ve sold the long block and a...

Anyone fitted a large rear safari window recently if so which one ?

I’m thinking of getting a rear safari window for my panel as having no side windows to open when camping can be a little warm . Ive been looking at various posts on what is deemed the best ,either Wolfgang or Creative . The trouble is most are years old and having spoken to creative yesterday they r...

The Best hubcap retaining clips available

I need to replace 7 hubcap clips on my wheels .Ive heard that some of the aftermarket clips are useless .I really don't want to loose my hub caps .Would you say that the Wolfsburg West clips are about the closest to gen style and quality?
Thanks

Anyone in the Bristol area got a working 009 or svda dizzy I could borrow for a tuning test.

Hi all ,following a rather costly rolling road sesh to get my Carbs dialed in and to eliminate my flat spot ,we found that my Bosch svda dizzy was not advancing correctly .So I left with instructions to get my dizzy refurbed and then come back. I sent my dizzy off to be overhauled and after it was b...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

Ok so I took my dizzy up to a friends vw garage today and he stuck it in a customers bay with a 1600 stock motor and single carb. The dizzy showed to be running just as it should .we hooked up the strobe and The advance responded fine ,and wouldn't go over 32 degrees.Im wondering if the refurb compa...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

I agree under normal circumstances but I had 118 mains in and it was running way to lean due to the amount of advance the dizzy was pulling , (42 degrees vac off / 53 vac connected) he upped my jet size to compensate and after a couple more runs it was showing a safe mixture accross the rev range . ...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

At present I left the rolling road with 128 main jets ,58 idles so he could stop the engine leaning out at high rpm because of the high advance curve .I still had a small stutter off idle so he stuck 60 pumps in and it’s sorted it as a temporary measure until I got my dizzy situation solved ,then he...

Re: Twin DRLA 36 carb problem ,guru help please

009’s prefer a non stock motor really or higher reving as a rule of ghumb to get over the flat spot .my svda was a Mexican Bosch unit but as said above it has shown not to be advancing early on then coming in hard and leaning the motor out by over advancing so giving the flat spot early on . Pumps a...
