Aldon Amethyst mappable ignition system

www.aldonamethyst.co.uk Has anyone got experience with these? A friend of mine has one spare and is offering it to me. He’s got one on his Jaguar Mk2. They seem designed for distributer based ignition systems giving control over timing, vacuum and other characteristics. Tuning a 3.4 ltr Jag is quite...

Re: SSVC TECHNICAL WEEKEND

Always stuff to do Dougal...... I've bought a brake servo from VWJim, which he is bringing. With stock drums all round I hope it will make towing the Puck a little less scary!!! If there's room on the ramp I would like to try and fit that. May be interesting for others too? I know I have had lots of...

Re: Air box repair

Thanks Giles, that would be great! Could you send it to me? Not sure how to deal with addresses and so on on this forum, but if you check out Beetlebushire on Facebook you'll find it there. I'll find a way to reimburse the postage. Thanks very much, Joop

Re: Air box repair

Thanks guys, you're ace. I feel a whole lot better now I know she'll live ;-). I think I'll give the internal plastic surgery a go. Will post the results when I've done. Cheers.

Air box repair

My learned friends.... I bought my 1966 CP last year and have enjoyed using it sparingly over the winter. One problem I have is that the cab is FREEZING! When opening the air box it is clear that the flap is not secured to the spindle so I'll need to get some screws for that (grub screws presumably?...

camping/touring in Switzerland

If you make it that far east, the National Park in Unter Engadin is beautiful. A small region with its own language and much quieter than the central "Interlaken" area. We camped in Scuol, a beautiful small local town with a gorgeous campsite across the river.

Re: tailgate lock's locked

Cracked it! I had phoned a locksmith who explained why it might be stuck and how to fix it. The fix is very similar to what you suggested CACMG, but I'll come to that in a minute. First: why does this happen? He explained that, particularly on a new lock, the tumblers have a "leading edge". When the...

Re: tailgate lock's locked

Thanks Lee, the key won't turn at all so something must be catching inside. Also can't go through the top of the cupboards as there's still a drawer in the way and you can't lift that out. Maybe a locksmith can pick it. Or know any thieves ;-)?

tailgate lock's locked

I made an attempt to sort the locks on my '66 Caterbury Pitt. I got it last year and I was never able to lock it. The bus came with a whole bunch of keys, but one (new) set seemed to fit most locks (they appear replacement locks). After some lubricant and wriggling I was able to lock the tailgate, b...
