Re: Interior panel covering 1963 Dormobile

Thanks for your potential offer for your material. I am currently still scouring the web and have come across a paper backed vinyl with a similar pattern and various colours which I am exploring at the moment, the only problem is it comes in 50m rolls!! There is also another 3mm vinyl covered carava...

Re: Interior panel covering 1963 Dormobile

Thanks type21f for all your thoughts and photos. Most useful and interesting. I am checking out the wide vinyl covered paper market and the caravan wallboard suppliers but I haven't found anything like a match as yet. The panels to the cab area are the grey painted "oil board" panels but original re...

Accepting the variations of computer screens and photos I believe this shows the available TMI vinyls on either side with the "commercial grey" in the centre. Quite a difference.

Hi Thanks for that.

I did contact Wolfburg West and they directed me to TMI! Do you have a contact there or a reference I could use?

"Commercial grey" upholstery 63 Dormobile

I have been looking everywhere to try match the grey vinyl on the front 1/3rd,2/3rd seats. I have been told it is commonly known as "commercial grey" vinyl. I have been in touch with TMI in USA and they are aware of what is a darker grey than their available options and with a different surface fini...

Front drum diameter 1963 Dormobile

Hi All

I have had the drums skimmed and cannot determine how much has been taken off and whether I will require oversize linings?

I have tried to find the diameter of new shoes on the internet without success.

Can anyone with an original drums or information let me have a diameter.

Thanks

Re: Front axle beam and reduction boxes

Sorry can't help with the beam bushes, but there is certainly oil flow along the axle tubes, from gearbox to redux box and vice versa. I think the redux boxes find there own oil level from the oil in the main box. although you pre-fill a redux box with 0.44 pint of oil initially, I'm guessing seale...

Front axle beam and reduction boxes

Started to put the front axle beam and rear transmission/reduction boxes back together today. Had a couple of issues which I hope someone can assist with. 1. The plastic? bushes on the front hub were extremely tight and in the process of trying to force on the torsion arm pushed the outer bush along...

Re: 1963 Dormobile

Hi Thanks for your comprehensive reply. Photo of van when collected. The bottom half had been hand painted in green but the original lower colour is mouse grey. Will it have been the case that the vehicle was delivered to England white and Dormobile then added the mouse grey? VW collection 006small ...

1963 Dormobile

I am about to have the front seats recovered on the above. When I picked up the van it had blue seats in the back and plain grey seats at the front (with white piping). The upholsterer said that the grey seats are commercial seats from a non-camper van and they should be a different colour with heat...
