Oily motors

Just thinking is it possible to run a type 2 motor that does drop oil?
I thinking of using a panel van for work 1600 and can not have oil dropping on customer drives.

If I get a recon engine and box ?

Re: What happens to an over heated engine

Does it turn over? Or is it solid?

Re: Wheels and Tyres.

Did you have 14" wheels on yours? Just because I'm swaping back.

Re: Popping/backfiring when decelerating

Check your timing and check your distributor vacuum pipe. Also check your exhust like Jim said.

Re: Popping/backfiring when decelerating

Back firing is caused by either timing being slightly off or over fueling. What distributor have you got etc? What colour are your plugs?

Re: How do you change generator brushes

Use electrical tape to hold the screw to the screwdriver. Put the screw on the driver then one wrap of tape so you can pull it off once the thread is engaged.

Re: More engine problems

I run a 1641 with a weber progressive on it. Works fine and I get 27 mpg unless I'm up down in Cornwall then it's 23 loaded up.

Re: More engine problems

Basic checks first. Are you getting a spark at the end of the leads? Are plugs wet? Etc

Re: Recommendations for HT leads for 1600 sp stock engine

I have silicon ones on my bus as they don't go brittle. Coloured as well! With nice spark plugs boots.

Re: Tyres

Hi Ted.
That's right I'm thinking comfort. I looked on a tyre sizing Web site and 155/90 r14 are the same overall diameter as the ones I have. No rubbing at all at the moment. Do you think they will make it softer ride?
Thanks phil

Tyres

Hi guys. I'm thinking of changing my wheels on my 64 from 185/60r15 to 14 inches rims so I can lift the aspect of the tyre Has anyone done this? The reason is to make it more comfortable. The bus has dropped spindles and straight axle. One Web site says I could use 155/90r14. Sent from my SM-J320FN ...
