Pop out hinge

I need to remove my pop out hinge which is plug welded by the looks of it about every 50mm via a 3mm hole into the side window reveal.
I did one by carefully drilling in to the top of the weld. Is this the best way to do it?

Re: Brakes

Hm, I still think it's the servo perhaps it had so air in it,
See how it's goes.
When the mot stations open I would get it brake tested to see what is happening.

Re: Brakes

One last check you could do dis the hose at the servo, fire the engine up you should feel the vacume on the end of the pipe. Make sure you don't get any dirt sucked in

Vw Jim on here sells a servo and knows more than me. Give him a call or pm him

Re: Brakes

OK, first thing
so you need to check the vacume pipe from engine to servo for leaks.
As make sure that your manifold is not leaking as well.

Re: Brakes

Does the van feel like the brakes arent working very well at all say 50%? If so have you checked that you have vacume from the engine and the line hasn't been damaged? And is connected tightly at both ends Try this Turn engine off, pump brakes 5-6times Turn engine on while pushing lightly down on th...

Re: Brakes

When you start the engine the vacume starts to the servo.
The hard pedal you discribed sounds like your servo is failing.
The servo vacume is leaking inside.
Would you say the pedal is hard to push down?

Re: Brakes

Hm, not sure we know exactly what you mean, the pedal should have a little travel then stop hard when you push on it. Try with the van stopped. Or do you mean the pedal then gives way a little more as you push hard down? That would indicate air some where? I assume the level is correct in the master...

Re: Brakes

Hi Rick, That is a lot of dust some pads are very soft and wear quickly meant to be higher proformance versions. I would say fitting a good set of pads will cure the issues. When going down steep hills give time for the pads to cool by lifting off for a few seconds. Good luck. Sent from my HRY-LX1 u...
