Re: Chassis Number

Here goes. Its RHD. 11 Windows Division - NOT a walk through. It was an Ambulance as there were fans in the air duct and there's a circular plate inside the air duct which blanks out the hole where the light was. It has air vents in the rear wings - to the rear of the petrol cap on the drivers side....

Chassis Number

My van hasn't got a vin plate but there is a number stamped to the right hand side of the engine onto the bodywork on the floor of the engine bay - 5090651. This doesn't bear any resemblance to the listing on the Samba. Can anyone help me identify the year of manufacture. The vehicle is registered a...

Re: Rear wheel bearing

By "diff cover" (may be wrong terminology) I mean the sqaure cover in which the seal sits and is held on with 4 bolts. Thanks for your help.

Rear wheel bearing

When I removed the diff cover the outer shell of the bearing came away with the cover. I've managed to tap it back in around the bearing. Should this be ok or is the fact it came away means that its bust?

Thanks

Re: Rear Hub Oil Leak

There wern't any washers on the axle so Ive got no old ones to use. In various diagrams there is a washer against the bearing up against which you put the small o ring. There is then another washer between the large oil seal which you have to drift into the square diff cover (washer goes between the...

Re: Rear Hub Oil Leak

Yes - looks like oil and level in brKe reservoir hasn’t moved. In the process of chNging the seal. Any tips on how to get the rubber o ring to stay on the outer rim of the bearing. Keeps slipping off with me before I can get the cover plate on. Another thing worth noting is that the kits they sell o...

Rear Hub Oil Leak

Hi If got a rear hub oil leak which is seeping in from the back of the backplate via the join between the brake cylinder and the back plate. This is then fouling the brakes. Is this likely to be a gasket issue between the back plate and the hub casing or the seal itself. My initial thoughts were tha...

Grinding / whuring noise - clutch

When my engine is idkeing there is an intermittent grinding or whuring noise which goes if you increase the revs or depress the clutch. The clutch works fine re changing gear and doesn’t slip.was wondering whether this is a clutch thrust bearing issue as it sounds like a rough bearing noise ? Not th...

Backfire and miss fire

After running well my van is backfiring and miss firing badly. Flames out of the house exhaust. I’ve checked the compression in each cylinder and all is good at around 9. However front two plugs were very black whilst the back two were fine. Any thoughts.
