Re: Vintage Speed exhaust - flanger adaptors or not

That’s a completely stock fitting exhaust you have, so normal, not flanges. The flanged type have bolts through them.

Re: Best way to clean crank cases

Gunk.... I did put mine in the dishwasher.... hahahahaha, however I then left them for a few days, the dishwasher gets them so grease free that they started to ‘powder’, white aluminium/magnesium corrosion, which I then had to clean off with small wire brushes, and use bottle brushes/pipe cleaners i...

The link pins are very simple to adjust.

Re: Engine cuts out

Has it got a Servo? Sudden vac leak on the servo pipe? Relatively common on Bays. Cuts out when braking.

Re: Suggestions? - Fan shroud to heat exchanger connectors?

Hi Jim, Yeah I had OG heat exchangers - but they were off something from Cali - and were different to what I took off, although the arms etc were in the same place (not like Bay ones) - but they have proper collar return springs around the flap arms etc that my prevuious ones did'nt, so they seemed ...

I'm very very tempted to go 205/80R14's on mine - 27.3" of goodness - right on the money for crossply height but an inch wider...

Re: Suggestions? - Fan shroud to heat exchanger connectors?

Hi, I did'nt really take any pics - but I have got a pic of the engine before I refitted it - you can just about make out some of the flanges - the biggest problem was getting the stubs to present upright through the tinwear, so it was the top portions of the tin exhaust boxes that had the most work...

Re: What are reduction boxes really like?

I have a 1904cc in my stock bus, stock height with RGB’s. Drives nice now! Don’t struggle up long inclines when 4 up, roof rack, camping gear etc, like I used to with a 1500. With 185/80R14 tyres currently revs at 4K revs at 70mph. Looking to fit some slightly bigger tyres to lower the revs a touch,...

Re: headlining repair

Hi Piran, Yes I have done this relatively successfully, I had a right angle tear in my headliner, about 1” by 2”, I glued a cotton square using fabric contact glue behind it, then filled the remaining slight gap with decorators caulk... sounds a bit gash, but It did actually come out pretty well.......

Re: Suggestions? - Fan shroud to heat exchanger connectors?

Yes .... they are crap! I don’t know what model they designed the exhaust for, but I don’t think it was a VW... hahahahaha During lockdown I unpeeled the flanges and beat them into a better shape... I had to alter them fairly substantially to fit better, the one side more than the other, and I got t...

Re: Auto Wares convex mirror?

I bought a set a few months ago, used them on the motorway last week for a long drive on the M5 to Woolacombe and back.... they are night & day better... visually you can’t really tell from stock flat glass, but boy o boy are they better to use.... a big, big thumbs up from me.

Re: 123ignition tune+

Great info here. I’ve been running my 123tune+ for over a year now and tried lots of different maps translated from graphs on the net. All have worked but I’ve not really understood to vac setting and I seem to only pull a weak vac from my drla’s. Hopefully I’ll get a new map drawn up with all the ...

I'm going to replace the spark plugs at the same time, should the gap still be 0.6mm?
yes - spark plug gap won't change.
