Re: Devon and tent brochures and letter

Fantastic history..... so sorry for the loss of your van.... The Devon instructions were very interesting... thanks for sharing... if Graham (type21f) has bought them they have gone to a perfect home 👍 Odd that they say that the big table for the bed says wooden side up.... I don’t do that as they l...

Re: Front hub nuts (Locking)

I was thinking they looked a bit crap! They have a moulding flash all the way around, so you can't get a spanner on it properly, and I'd want a flat machined face to go on the washers as per the OG nuts - as it looks like it has a moulded thin lip, non machined face which goes to the bearing! Jim - ...

Re: Dual circuit conversion with ATE master cylinder problems

For anyone interested I sorted the brake bleeding in the end - the clunk in the pedal stroke - ie it would go halfway then clunk and go a bit more - I worked out was the front piston hitting the rear piston in the master cylinder - i.e doing exactly what it is designed to do - if one circuit fails t...

Re: Fuel tank ID?

It looks huge - so I'd say late bay.... I know a Bay tank won't fit under the normal tank retaining straps in a Split - most people just either extend the straps by welding a section in - or use much longer bolts/all-thread to bolt them down with.

Re: Painting Headliner & Door Cards

I'm sure Graham (Type21f) painted his millboard panels in rear of his Devon (under drawers and side panels) in grey spray paint - but its the same colour and material as far as I kow - I sure I saw it in his Peebles Resto thread somehwere...

Re: Tyre choice going from 14 in to 15

No - if you are going 15" wheels the 185/80R15's are the closest to OG 27"crossply size - they don't look to wide. the 195's are closer if you stay original 14" rims... and 205's are even closer again, but they are a bit too wide. Have a look at 8Bus's thread here in Rides & Projects - he has a Sing...

Re: Best choice tyres for 14’ wheels?

Just said this in another thread, but same applies to you..... If you fit 15” wheels and 185/80 R15 tyres your are within a whisker of the 14” OG crossplies (7.00 14) that we’re 27” diameter. I don’t know who ever came up with 185R14’s as replacement radial tyres back in the day as they are way too ...

Dual circuit conversion with ATE master cylinder problems

Bought a AHSchofields master cylinder conversion kit for my stock 67 (was single circuit) which uses a ATE late bay with servo MC. A couple of things, when fitted and pushrod adjusted to 1mm play the pedal only goes down halfway with no pipes connected, as if I’m reaching the end of the MC travel wa...

Re: Please Help I cannot get my V5!

Hi, Feel for your situation... After a google I found this.... don't know how true it is though - although googling seems to reveal that lots of Cat B cars are returned to the road, so it must be possible: I have called DVLA before buying a Cat B car to ask can I register it now as there is no more ...

Re: Heater sticking open

I had a similar issue - try disconnecting both heater control cables, see if it still bleeds heat - this rules out them being held open by the cable mech. If it still leaks heat with the cables disconnected I found the flap at the top of the HE had moved on the axle/spindle, so the spindle was shut,...

Re: What’s the difference between a 64 and 67 Kombi 11 windows?

The biggest difference (and one that hasn’t been previously mentioned) is the biggest obvious change.... a full size radio hole was a 67 only feature..... before 67 model year it was a squarer hole with 2 round holes for the radio knob spindles. If the dash is uncut and original it’s a guaranteed 67...

Re: Brake problems

Are your rear brakes (I’m assuming still drums) adjusted up ok? Maybe try adjusting them up tight... have you got more pedal then? If you pump the pedal do you get a much higher pedal?
