Re: wheel size vs speed with reduction boxes

Guys, all thanks for the feedback - found the "radius" topic so I think I might go for the bigger tyres to start off. I'm sure in the future a gearbox improvement may be on the cards (or whenever the gearbox dies)..

Re: wheel size vs speed with reduction boxes

I've got 175/65/15. not sure I can go much higher on the current 15inch rims. i'm happy with the pickup. I want to keep old school but would like to cruise at around 60mph.

wheel size vs speed with reduction boxes

I have a 1600 engine with stock reduction boxes fitted. The old girl sits on around 3800 rpm at 53 mph but I'm looking for just a little more "pace" but don't want to over-rev her. If I increase the wheel/tyre size will I get a little more speed at same rpm without upsetting the running? I'm assumin...

Re: Questions people ask you when you're with your bus.

Asked for the umpteenth time, how much did it cost?
Do you think you'll get your money back?
Can you drive it with the front windows up?

Re: Speedo & fuel gauge

Did you change the sender for a beetle type sender (thermal type) or just tried to keep the splitty sender (balance coil)?

Re: Speedo & fuel gauge

guys - thanks for the feedback especially the sender info from BJ1. It doesn't look overly complicated and I'm thinking 8O it could be done with a replacement float sender. However getting the right match with a new sender (beetle and/or aftermarket), and then ensuring it fits, and then it also prov...

Speedo & fuel gauge

Hi all. Im looking at installing a oil temp gauge into the van. But as my speedo has died I was thinking of replacing this with an old beetle speedo (with an incorporated fuel gauge) - then removing the dash fuel gauge and installing the oil temp gauge in this location. Any advice on this and will i...

Fitting sliders to safari window
