Good thread here too. It’s not an easy task. But one I thought had to be done.

this is the one I have, drains pretty quick though if you're using a propex.
If you have the cash then these look good:
do a search for Lifos Advanced Lightweight Battery

Thanks guys. Any ideas where to get the D fan from. All the usual websites are crap at stating sizes. The only place I can find one is jBugs in the USA

Crankshaft pulley size 170mm or 178mm?
I need to replace my bottom pulley and I was searching for an original vw one and discovered them labelled as 170mm. Mine is approximately 178mm. So I was wondering which to get? Worth noting that most sites don’t specify the diameter! My engine is a 1641 with twin dels. Anyone have any idea if I sh...

Re: Alternator Help Please
Post a pick of the alternator.
If all your wiring to the bulb in the front is ok then it’s probably the regulator, some alternators have a section on top under the band that holds the to the post that can be removed and new regulator fitted. Otherwise it’s get a new one.

Re: Fuel cut off solenoid - where and how?
Mine is the same as Stevep. Mounted to the chassis rail just as the pipe comes out of the tank.
Filter is included in it with this version and it’s shuts the fuel off if the extinguisher is activated.
Great bit of kit to have.

Re: Engine wont start
If the filter is between the tank and the mechanical? fuel pump and isn’t getting fuel then it’s not the pump that’s the problem it’s your filter, as the pump should be after the filter and before your carb right? So check your lines between the tank and the filter, Daft question I know, but I’m goi...

Re: Not wanting to wake up after a long winters sleep
Just an update for anyone that reads this thread in the future. My fuel cut off solenoid is connected to my fire extinguisher, so that if it goes off, the solenoid shuts down the fuel from the tank. If, you happen to have a loose earth wire on the extinguisher then the solenoid thinks it’s gone off ...
