Re: Any interest in a PX or swap. My 61 RHD panel for a windowed bus

Build thread is here, although all the early photos showing the resto and underside are missing. Will try and find a copy to upload.

Sorry for radio silence. Will sort some pics out soon. There was a full build thread, but I can't find it anymore!

Joe, I'll respond to your PM soon, however I'd prefer to have something in the pipeline to replace it with!

Any interest in a PX or swap. My 61 RHD panel for a windowed bus

A change in circumstance means after hours/years of sweat blood and tears I'm looking to swap my bus for something that the family can see out the back of! I'm sure I had an old build thread somewhere but not sure how up to date it is so I'll give a quick list of what has been done. 1961 RHD Austral...

Re: My First VW !! Mid Life Crisis "THE TRAILER RESTO BEGINS

Awesome mark, love the colour combo plans, personally I'd go with pepper white arches too just to keep the whole bottom half the same like the bus, but I'm sure it'll look great either way. Looking forward to seeing it in paint.

What's the best Matt wax?

I realize this has been asked many times before, and I've searched and read, but can I I just if I'm missing anything. I've painted my bus last year in semi gloss L345. It's not perfect, and not that flat, but as it's semi gloss it's also not forgiving, as I found out after I'd already painted. It c...

Re: Hub seals and housing repros

Well, now they are doing hub seals, housings and pads, but it went in for a general check over after my first 1000 miles :(

Re: Hub seals and housing repros

Well I've got some from vw heritage going in now, just annoying as it's the labour more than the parts, but was all new only 1000miles ago. Why do people repro stuff wrong and then think it's ok to sell! Both side had gone, as the oil had nowhere to go and just filled the drums. Hopefully this will ...

Re: Wood headliner problem?

Hi Had a lot of pm's regarding this, so thought I'd cover the topic in this thread for others who are interested. Let me know if I miss anything. I used hardboard, shiney side down. Had to shave this thinner at the edges with a belt sander to slot it in above the cab area, but it's like cheese so ve...

Re: Wood headliner problem?

8 x 4 sheets always come oversized. Usually about 1240mm, which is marginally under 49 inches but allows you to secure it to both supports. http://i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q674/dave409787/IMG_3193_zps68728a0a.jpg http://i1353.photobucket.com/albums/q674/dave409787/IMG_3195_zpscb0d4ee2.jpg Was ve...

Hub seals and housing repros

Hi, I had new T2D rear drums, axles etc fitted about 1000 miles ago, after a few hundred miles I noticed there was oil being sprayed into my wheels. I've eventually got round to having it checked out, drums very seized on, I guess due to tight machining of repro drums, but the guys really struggled ...

Re: Thanks

Well done John, stunning bus, and stunning interior work, love the detail. I'm planning to attend next year, so if your going again I'd love to meet you on the condor and make the trip up with you. I'm sure there are others from the islands that could be roped in? Sadly, time wasn't on my side this ...
