Re: Camping near Newquay

There’s a campsite in Porth, nice little valley / beach next to Newquay but walking distance back to the other beaches like Lusty Glaze if you fancy it. Can wander over the road to the beach and the pub and it’s quite a peaceful site.

Re: Splitscreen pop outs

Aluminium ones are tight as f... They’re a different profile and not as flexible as steel, especially once painted. I’m reliably informed that providing you get your rubber on first and apply a lot of lube you’ll eventually manage to squeeze it into the slot, although I’ve yet to manage mine. Try wr...

Re: Flap return spring - too long ?

Aha, of course there are more variations than I first thought, it wouldn’t be splitscreen restoration otherwise

Re: Flap return spring - too long ?

This is what mine looked like. My shroud is aftermarket but the flaps and linkage bar are original. The doghouse shroud has three linkage bars as in my photo - two shorter ones for the two sets of flaps and one long one to link those two. The non-doghouse shroud has a single bar like yours, except y...

Re: 61 RHD devon

Looking for opinions please, the bus came originally with two rear side pop outs and four fixed side windows! My initial thoughts were to keep as was as final build will be almost standard, but am now thinking all pop outs, will be having have front and rear safaris. I've asked my eldest 12 year ol...

Trailer Queen Restos are down there too and have a good reputation.

Evil Ben’s is superb although tends to be more mechanical rather than body work but he does do both.

Re: Spaceway whale pump and tank ?

Somewhere in the back of my head I’ve got a feeling that 66 were like this and then 67 had a plastic bottle / tank which could be removed for filling?

There’s some old spaceway reference threads from BJ1 which will have details of you search back through I think?

Re: Rear tail light sizes and trim

UK RHD 62 should have orange and red with chrome trim. US 62 had all red lenses, with chrome trim I think. South African 62? Not sure but for UK MOT you should have orange and red. Later on the same lights were used on bays and at some point stopped having the chrome trim. But these are a different ...

Re: rewiring a 65 split HELP

My personal tips from when I did mine, maybe useful maybe not... Make sure you have your fuse box the right way up and that you’ve understood how that relates to the diagram - the VW diagram is opposite way up to how you think it’s going to be when you’re looking at it. You can tell if you’ve got it...

Re: Headlight switch

Fuel gauge should earth directly to the dash which if you’ve ever had a repaint or had the gauge out may not be making a proper connection. You can run a separate earth from the back of the gauge case to somewhere you have a better earth which may improve things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
