What a great restoration Vanman. I restored a hi-roof just over 20 years ago. I originally restored it to a panel van and converted it from LHD to RHD. £50 to £200 would buy a total restoration job. £400 for a runner. £600 to £800 got you a decent van with a 12 months MOT, and £1200 and above could put you in the upper crust and potential Concours entrant. There was just a couple of left hookers about then. Vast majority were Devons and Canterbury ...

There's an interesting little story relating to the 'Bad Custom Paint Job'. The van was originally restored to a pretty much original finish, and was one of the better vans around at the time. It is the fifth from the right on the 1984 AGM line up. But evidently at VW Action a few purists were a bit...
