1963 - 1200cc stale air engine

1200cc Stale Air Engine Year: 1963 Engine No: 6387369 End float: 0.2 mm I ran this in my bus for 3 years until the compression got too low (the front 2 pots are on about 3 bar now). My plan was to get the bigger bore kit and turn it into a 1500, but I just don’t have time to sort it, so it’s up for ...

Nikki twin choke carb

Nikki twin choke carb with VW adapter.

This is a bit of a blast from the past, apparently these where sold in catalogues back in the day, it came out of my buddies 70's bug.. Would look cool in a period vintage-speed bus.

Re: SP Engine build questions

Cheers buddy, that's the route I've taken. The crank is off to a local engine shop tomorrow, thought it was better than an exchange unit which is on cut number 3 with .75mm removed and on its last legs! At least the one I have is never been reground and has plenty of life left in it. Remote filter a...

SP Engine build questions

Afternoon fellas, I'm currently in the process of building a motor, I want it to do big miles so I'm running stock running gear (65 big nut box) and I've gone for a 1500cc/1600cc single port engine, I say both because I'm undecided so would be interested if anybody has an opinion either way? I have ...

Re: SO42 Interior materials

I need some new material for those, is a modern equivalent just 6mm birch ply? 6mm is way to thick, ceiling / wall panels are ~3/32"... door/cab ceiling cards = 3.5mm The veneer on the underside of the tables is also delaminated. What is the modern equivalent to these strips? Not sure what exactly ...

SO42 Interior materials

Hi, I'm currently in the process of restoring/preserving an SO42, I'm after some information regarding the specification of the interior materials. The cargo door cards are shot, (i've managed to save even the worst de-laminated bits but these are rotten) so I need some new material for those, is a ...

Strange oil leaks - gearbox/engine

I've ran the bus for a week now since registering it, it's done about 250 miles. I've been getting the usual engine oil leak when I switch off and a couple of drips from the nose cone bush on the gearbox, but neither worth worrying about. Took it for a run yesterday, probably 10 miles parked it up s...

Transmission oil draining into RGB

Bit of a weird one guys, got the bus on axle stands, drained the gear box and right hand RGB, I fill the gearbox up with 2.75L (a bit more than recommend because it's been stood draining well over a week) I put the plug back in the side of the box move round to the RH RGB and it's already got fresh ...
