Are you sure it ain't brake related ?

My first thought was that your soft lines were shot, but then you seem to say that the heating ins't due to excessive brake pressure ?

Beware of the extra length of the bikes... Hooked on the back, the bikes might be WAY larger than the bus...

I think there is a vehicle department in france that you pay about €100+ and they give you a three day pass that includes insurance to drive a vehicle out of france. The clutch needs to be adjusted every now and then, as the butterfly nut does spin after so many clutch mouvements...
