Re: Missing heat exchanger part

On ebay:

Sorry - just read the bit about working on it this weekend.

Looks like it comes as part of a kit at GSF, if they have it in stock: https://www.gsfcarparts.com/201vg0180 £12.07

Re: Heat exchangers

I had this problem once in my beetle.

If you can get underneath it may be possible to remove the 'heat exchanger to internal pipework' cans, secured by a couple of jubliee clips on mine.

Re: MOT Exemption changes… acceptable or substantially changed?

I had an email today with a link to the gov website:

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/mot- ... 0-may-2018

A mention in section 5 about 'Substantial Changes'.

Worth a read - may affect some VW'ers.

Hi Kezvilla.

Slippy8v probably asked you to PM your phone number so that it was not visible to everyone.

Might be worth doing that and deleting it from your post.

Re: Advice on correct Split Screen engine.

Looking on thesamba.com technical, the engine number states 1200cc.
I've something in the back of my mind that a 1200 can't be converted into a 1641.
Can anybody confirm this?

Re: Handbrake Mechanism question

If all you've done is flip the yoke, and there appears to be about an inch of 'take up' in the photo, why aren't the cables still long enough?

Or is it that they are too short for some other reason?

Dare I ask, have you tried it with the ignition on?

Re: ‘Knocking noise’

Could be right side wheel bearing.
Jack the wheel off the ground.
Grab the wheel at top and bottom and pull each in turn.
If it 'clunks' when doing it you could try adjusting up the wheel bearing.
Try both front wheels.

Re: Airflow - Back of Bus and Engine Compartment

I imagine that the louvres on the side of the bus let in the outside ambient air to dilute the hot air produced by the engine, and then the fan gets rid of it through the fan shroud, pushing it over the fins of the piston cylinders, and/or over the heat exchangers. https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/57...

All stuff for sale needs to have prices, as per the Forum rules. Thank you.
