Re: Red light only at idle

I had exactly the same problem several years ago when I replaced a Bosch dynamo with one of the cheaper repro ones. It was basically OK but from the very start, at idle the red light came on. Like yours, once the throttle was on a little bit it went out. Also tried a different regulator – no differe...

Canterbury Pitt fixture holes.

I've wondered what was fixed to these holes on my RHD Canterbury Pitt for some time so thought I'd ask. In all there are three pairs. I thought they might be for side lighting. Perhaps they are but three pairs seemed a bit much for that. The pair shown in the photo is just behind the B-post, driver'...

Original Paint?

Not sure if it's been covered on here before but a while ago I was doing a bit of research into the paint M codes on my Canterbury Pitt van. They show that it was originally painted, upper and lower, in pearl white. The earliest picture I have is with the van in two tone, sea blue and white. Who kno...

Re: Where to get tracking done?

Hi, It is pretty standard but you'll likely need to go to somewhere where they have older tracking kit. Some time ago I went along to my friendly tyre/service centre and was told that their modern laser gear wasn't suitable for the job. They kindly directed me to another local place which had a set ...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table - first repro almost done :)

Hi Kevin, Yes I did thanks. The pic mentioned above compares the original bracket I had to the one I tracked down in the USA via ebay (UK). As you'll see it's pretty much the same, just a bit narrower and I think the mounting holes don't quite match the originals due to the slightly different mounti...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table - first repro almost done :)

Hi Kevin, The overall length of a fully extended original support with the mounting brackets tucked under is 10”. The distance, centre to centre, between the outer pivots is 9 1/2”. As I've previously searched for a suitable bracket myself and if useful, you can find a pic of an original support bra...

Re: Erratic speedo dial

Hi, You probably would have noticed already but just in case... Is the square hole in the grease cap or the square end of the cable rounded off a bit? If either of these, the cable may not be being driven properly especially as the speed increases. A simple and cheap way to check this is to fasten t...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Hi Mark, thank you, always pleased to help. As promised, a few photos of the just finished table – original front leg, front spring bracket and rear claw catch in use, everything else new. The groove in the carpet behind the front leg is where the front leg used to sit. Thanks again to all who contr...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Hi Mark, I think it is the 10” but, unlike others for sale at the time, that wasn't in the item's title (on ebay) but the seller's description sounded promising. As a double check, I asked the seller to make another, unambiguous measurement for me, which they kindly did, which gave me more confidenc...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Success! Just received a spring bracket from across the pond for my table's rear legs and as I hope you can see it's a pretty close match to the original - new one on top, original below. This one's by Stanley. The other make that's on offer over there that may be OK is by National Manufacturing but...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Hi Mark, To summarise where I got to regarding the sprung leg supports, the 10” size given for the ones I found (from different suppliers) refers to the absolute total length, meaning the length of the arms and the hinge brackets, all opened out and laying flat. In retrospect, this is most likely al...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table - any interest in repro?

Hi Lee, Just spotted your update and as I've yet to find a source, I wondered if you might be able to steer me in the direction of the correct length, leg support spring bracket supplier or might be able to supply me with one. I'm currently checking out one more UK supplier but so far the only longe...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Hi Mark, Have just sent a message to the original supplier but also since then found other same(?)/similar (and cheaper!) items on Amazon so have ordered and will let you know how it goes. Looking around the web there does seem to be quite a few firms that supply them so hopefully we'll be OK. Kind ...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Hi Guys, As an update re the table leg stays. I'm disappointed to report that I was contacted by the seller saying that they had an error in their stock and hence didn't have any. This is doubly disappointing as the measurements given in the ad looked like they matched those of the original exactly ...
