Re: Help with Canterbury Pitt fold down, metal table legs please.

Thought I'd complete this thread with a piccie of the short table legs that I've made. Couldn't find out exactly how the originals might have stayed in place vertically and horizontally, so after making a few different prototypes I went with a friction plus sprung button approach using 16mm (very cl...

Re: Help with Canterbury Pitt fold down, metal table legs please.

Thanks very much for the photos. Unfortunately no, these aren't the ones I'm interested in. The ones I'm looking for more info on are individual legs (four of, all the same), each made up of simple straight tubing about 12 inches long (sitting inside double, right angled metal brackets). It could we...

Help with Canterbury Pitt fold down, metal table legs please.

Following the earlier thread re my Canterbury Pitt table restoration – now over three years ago - for a bit of fun I'm thinking of trying to make a set of the short, fold down, metal legs. An internet search came up with pictures showing what they basically look like (tubular metal legs fitted into ...

Re: Searching for info on European Cars Limited of London, Middlesex & Reading

Hi,

Another photo for you. I think it's a little better in some areas but I'd have to work on the lighting to hope to get it any better. So I'm afraid that's it for now.

Re: Searching for info on European Cars Limited of London, Middlesex & Reading

Hi Richard,

I thought you might ask me that (re better photo). I can't take one at the moment but would be happy to do so – might take a few days though. No other info I'm afraid.

Hi,

Thought you might like this. European Cars (Staines) Ltd. looked up the location some time ago - it's now (or was when I looked via Google Map) a McDonald's or similar.

Re: Red light only at idle

I had exactly the same problem several years ago when I replaced a Bosch dynamo with one of the cheaper repro ones. It was basically OK but from the very start, at idle the red light came on. Like yours, once the throttle was on a little bit it went out. Also tried a different regulator – no differe...

Canterbury Pitt fixture holes.

I've wondered what was fixed to these holes on my RHD Canterbury Pitt for some time so thought I'd ask. In all there are three pairs. I thought they might be for side lighting. Perhaps they are but three pairs seemed a bit much for that. The pair shown in the photo is just behind the B-post, driver'...

Original Paint?

Not sure if it's been covered on here before but a while ago I was doing a bit of research into the paint M codes on my Canterbury Pitt van. They show that it was originally painted, upper and lower, in pearl white. The earliest picture I have is with the van in two tone, sea blue and white. Who kno...

Re: Where to get tracking done?

Hi, It is pretty standard but you'll likely need to go to somewhere where they have older tracking kit. Some time ago I went along to my friendly tyre/service centre and was told that their modern laser gear wasn't suitable for the job. They kindly directed me to another local place which had a set ...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table - first repro almost done :)

Hi Kevin, Yes I did thanks. The pic mentioned above compares the original bracket I had to the one I tracked down in the USA via ebay (UK). As you'll see it's pretty much the same, just a bit narrower and I think the mounting holes don't quite match the originals due to the slightly different mounti...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table - first repro almost done :)

Hi Kevin, The overall length of a fully extended original support with the mounting brackets tucked under is 10”. The distance, centre to centre, between the outer pivots is 9 1/2”. As I've previously searched for a suitable bracket myself and if useful, you can find a pic of an original support bra...

Re: Erratic speedo dial

Hi, You probably would have noticed already but just in case... Is the square hole in the grease cap or the square end of the cable rounded off a bit? If either of these, the cable may not be being driven properly especially as the speed increases. A simple and cheap way to check this is to fasten t...

Re: Canterbury Pitt table restoration

Hi Mark, thank you, always pleased to help. As promised, a few photos of the just finished table – original front leg, front spring bracket and rear claw catch in use, everything else new. The groove in the carpet behind the front leg is where the front leg used to sit. Thanks again to all who contr...
