Re: 1500 to 1600? Freeway flyer on RB's??

What year is the bus? Big or small nut trans? I'm running a big nut in my 58 with a 1300 twinport and 205 75 15s. Did my first long trip this weekend from Swansea to Bristol and I managed to do 65mph with ease, though usually cruising between 55 and 60 in convoy for the most part. And I averaged 30....

Rear end sag, coilovers?

My 58 panel sits ever so slightly low in the back end when empty, and a bit more noticeably now I have an interior. It's stock height on 205/75/15s, I don't really want to get in to re indexing the spring plates as I'm worried it will top out if I removed the interior at a later date meaning I'll ha...

Re: Clutch not disengaging

Just re read, if I were you I would fit a new (correct early style) clutch arm and go back to the pad type clutch. That's what your gearbox, pedal, clutch cable etc are all designed to work with so will probably be the source of your problem

Re: Clutch not disengaging

The type of release bearing that doesn't need a pad is late irs boxes, big nut trans still uses the early pad type clutch so that's probably your issue

Re: SSVC gets a dressing down!

Having t5s at volksworld is no different to having a brand new corsa at a classic car show! Its not a case of I don't like them, but they just don't belong at the (IMHO) best aircooled show of the season. (best for quality of show cars, not camping etc)

Re: How can I uncover my original paint?

I had two THICK resprays on my van, and nothing would touch it, tried graffiti remover, paint stripper, oven cleaner etc
Ended up with a razor blade for the first coat and good old fashioned wet sanding for the rest! 400h but worth it!

Re: Cheque book restos and lack of knowledge/research

First thing first, I need one of those stickers? Pm me info as I want one :D Secondly, I have asked some fairly dumb questions on Facebook but I find its the quickest way to get a response when your sat in the garage wondering what you did to deserve the third part in a row that doesn't fit! And Thi...

You'll have to give me a heads up if you ever take it for a run to Swansea, nice to see more busses in south Wales!

Big nut trans gearing

Hi all. I'm going to be putting a big nut trans in my 58 this winter in an effort to up the gearing a bit. I currently have a sweet little 1300 twinports in the van which drives really nice with my small nut and my big tyres (205/75/15) Will I be asking to much of this engine when I fit the new box ...

Re: DIY welding advice

I did a few courses in my college 5 years after I started welding my own cars. Level 1 city and guilds is all based on 3mm steel and level 2 was all based on 10mm steel. It 100% made me a better welder when it comes to fabrication work but there was no information that helped with vehicle repair. Bo...

Re: inlet manifold question

Surely the plates are to block the exhaust off when running an inlet manifold that doesn't have preheats (twin Weber's for example) with an exhaust that has preheats. He wants to run and exhaust without them on a stock inlet so they don't need closing off as they are useless. They are an exhaust loo...

Re: Should I have side lights?

Yep, first position on the dash switch is sidelights front and rear, second position brings headlights on at the front and then floor mounted dip switch brings full beam on.
