Re: Does a bay dormobile pop top fit a 67 split?

Hi Danny, The width is the same ... all you gotta do is change the profile on the short sides as the splitscreen roof has more of a curve. I did mine with a sanding disk on a grinder - made short work of it. If you have the strengthening irons these will need reshaping too. It was the best thing I e...

Re: Vanfest thanks... brilliant weekend

What a fantastic show. Many thanks to all those involved in organising this for the SSVC. This was a nice way to return to scene. My first show in the bus for 3 years 8O The field was spot on, just could have done with a few more buses. Having said that going by everybodies feedback I reckon there w...

26. VW - '54 RHD panel (Matt Smith imported from Oz) It's a trailer queen though so may not count? I think the 6 mile drive to the MOT station and back will be the furthest this bus will ever travel :!: sad but then again I guess it is better restored than left in the delapidated state it was befor...

Re: how much oil in gearbox??

GL5 contains an EP (extreme Pressure additive) that can be corrosive the phosphor bronze conponents, ie selector forks. Some late gearboxes have steel selectors, but most will not. I'd stick with GL4 Yes this was true when GL-5 was first developed. Nowadays they conform to MT-1 standards and theref...

Re: how much oil in gearbox??

I put in Morris 80W/90 GL4 into my gearbox. All seemed well until a seroius knocking occurs when under load after a hot run. Feels like the diff is shagged even though it has only done 31k miles from new! The only thing we couldn't rebuild in the gearbox was the original ZF Limited Slip Diff as the ...

Parking Ticket avoidance in a Camper

The town was quite busy put I noticed someone pulling out of a space so backed into it and run up the street not realising I had parked on double yellows. Got caught up in the Post Office and w...

Re: limited slip diff

I had a nice surprise when Bears told me my box had a Limited Slip Diff.

I reckon it was relating to my Swiss Army buses M-Code 092 (Lower gear ratios for mountainous regions). Worth checking army bus gearboxes!
