I believe it's been registered on here before, the reg is YTA 298E. Have tried contacting the van register, but no reply yet. If anyone has any info or photos that they could share with me would be great.
Still issues with the SSVC.org emails

Back on the road at last...

001.JPG After taking much longer than expected with the respray, then another delay replacing the engine, this one is finally back on the road with a fresh 12 months MOT.... I'm not going to worry about the exemption argument, like most of us I do all my own work, so it doesn't hurt to have fresh e...

Re: Removing starter motor 65 rhd bus

As Jim says it would be best to check with Perry at Fellowes Speed Shop, but I'd be surprised if it's anything other than a standard 12v starter which you can buy off the shelf complete with a new solenoid from any of the usual suppliers.

Re: Removing starter motor 65 rhd bus

The stock VW fixing would be a stud and nut on the bottom which is easier to get to once you have the wheel off, the top bolt has a nut cunningly hidden behind the fan housing inside the engine bay. I wouldn't know if there are Subaru bits in the way, but if you can imagine roughly where it should b...

Re: engine start

The only ones I've seen have used an old bellhousing from a scrap gearbox. Any other bracket you try to fabricate will have to cope with quite some torque and require a fair level of accuracy to keep everything lined up. The bellhousing is the easiest solution other than just putting it in the van. ...

California Wildfires donation

We have all seen the devastating wild fires in California recently. One Facebook post from Hot VWs Magazine struck a cord with Steve Saunders who runs the club Van register...... Hardcore VW guy James Gaebe has lost everything including 16 classic VWs and truck in the wildfire in Paradise, CA. But g...

Re: FFS

Has it had a new front panel? It looks like there's a fair bit of filler in there. The seam at the edge of the panel should have sharp corners where yours looks like its had a smear of filler. The flat section under the window should have a sharper corner too. Have a close look at some of the pictur...

Re: Cargo door seals

There always seems to be too much rubber with new seals. I had a set of repro seals (not Schofields) that were so thick I had to split them lengthwise to get them to fit. If you close the doors without the seals from inside the van you will hopefully see how much gap you have between the door and th...

Re: Engine cuts out

Are the floats in the float chamber set and working right? The fuel level in the chamber is critical and would be effected by the van facing down a steep hill.
